The Vatican welcomed Ambassador to the Holy See Brian Burch, his wife Sarah, and five of their nine children to Rome Aug. 28.
Burch and his family will reside at the Vatican ambassador embassy. President Donald Trump nominated Burch, co-founder of CatholicVote, as ambassador in December 2024. After Democrat senators blocked confirming the nomination in May, he was finally confirmed in a 49–44 vote on August 2.
“Words cannot express my gratitude to all those that have helped me achieve this important position, most especially my wife Sara, my 9 beautiful children, my CatholicVote team, and all those who supported me in this journey,” Burch said after the appointment. “I am especially grateful to the example of my father, who passed to eternal life last year, who taught me to love the Church and the profound blessings and responsibilities of being a citizen of the United States.”
Burch and Pope Leo XIV are both from Chicago.
