Students on the University of South Carolina’s Columbia campus experienced an active shooter scare on Sunday evening, but no threat was found and no shooting took place.
The incident began when a student carrying an umbrella was mistaken for someone with a weapon, prompting a campus-wide emergency response.
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) embarrassed herself by sharing about the “alleged shooter” on X.
Mace, who represents South Carolina’s 1st congressional district and whose son attends the University of South Carolina, followed up by posting a photo of an innocent man walking on campus, describing him as a “white male” wearing “black shorts, grey tshirt, backpack.”
The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh swiftly ripped the representative over her goof by mocking, “Really grateful for Nancy Mace. She bravely alerted the public to the dangers of a guy carrying an umbrella.”
He continued, “This is why we need common sense umbrella control.”
An active shooter was reported on the University of South Carolina’s Columbia campus at Thomas Cooper Library.
Emergency alerts were sent across campus as law enforcement agencies responded to what they believed was an immediate threat.
Multiple police departments responded to the active shooter situation on the campus of the University of South Carolina.
Officers conducted searches throughout the campus while students and staff followed lockdown procedures.
The University of South Carolina sent out an updated campus wide alert stating there is no evidence of an active shooter.
The all-clear was given after extensive searches found no threat to campus safety, per the IBTimes.
University of South Carolina Police say no evidence exists that a shot was fired at the school Sunday night. The investigation confirmed that no weapons were involved in the incident.
A university spokesperson told WIS-TV that no major injuries were reported and there were no confirmed reports of shots fired.
The spokesperson confirmed that the situation was resolved without any serious harm to individuals on campus.
Mace was dragged online earlier this month after posting a ridiculous nod to the explosive yet somehow controversial Sydney Sweeney American Eagle ad that recently took the internet by storm.
“Nancy Mace for Governor has great jeans,” she wrote.
Conservatives were quick to blast Mace for the bizarre social media stunt. “I’d love to never see this butt ever again,” said Ex-Daily Wire star Brett Cooper.
Another user wrote, “[Mace] is literally the stereotype of pick me girls who will do anything for outside validation but be taken seriously as a member of The United States Congress.”
Mace also sparked outrage in July when embarking on a road trip to Washington, D.C., to ensure her vote on President Donald Trump’s spending legislation would be counted.
The Republican showcased her journey extensively on X, sharing multiple updates throughout her drive to the nation’s capital.
Throughout her entire journey, Mace wore distinctive pink polka dot pajamas, Resist the Mainstream documented.
The congresswoman made multiple stops during her extended drive, including a notable visit to a truck stop where she purchased exactly three cans of Red Bull energy drinks.
One significant stop during her cross-country journey took place at a Waffle House restaurant, where Mace posed for multiple photographs with the diner staff members.
“From one Waffle House waitress to another, thank you for showing up, working hard, and keeping the coffee hot,” she wrote in a social media post.
