Former Department of Homeland Security official Miles Taylor suggested over the weekend that he may soon face federal scrutiny after the FBI raid on former national security adviser John Bolton’s residence.
Taylor, who worked during the first term of President Donald Trump’s administration, spoke with MSNBC host Jonathan Capehart on Saturday about the high-profile search that occurred last week.
The interview came one day after federal agents conducted an unannounced raid at Bolton’s Maryland home.
“Yeah, we expect it. I mean, really, we expect it,” Taylor told Capehart when asked if he believed he could become a target of future federal investigations.
“And that’s what is so surreal about this is we can all hear as we’re talking about this, be so certain of the president’s revenge campaign to know potentially who that next target might be or one of those next targets.”
Taylor described how the FBI’s activity near Bolton’s home immediately set off concern within his own household.
“I mean, when my wife and I woke up and saw the news, she basically said to me, ‘it’s coming,’” he recalled.
The FBI confirmed later that day that “court-authorized law enforcement activity” took place in Bolton’s neighborhood of Bethesda, Maryland.
Federal officials declined to provide specific details about the operation. However, media reports indicated the search was connected to Bolton’s handling of classified documents.
The former DHS aide claimed the operation fit into a broader pattern he had warned about previously.
Taylor said Trump maintained what he referred to as a “blacklist” of individuals he intended to pursue.
“Folks don’t have to play the violin for John Bolton or Miles Taylor. Maybe they don’t like either of us. That’s fine, because it’s not about us,” he explained during the interview.
Taylor continued by stressing the broader implications of the raids.
“It’s about the criminal justice system that all Americans expect to be able to treat them fairly,” he said.
“It’s a president of the U.S. weaponizing the tools of his office to reshape our society. And he’s doing that. He’s making sure the scales of justice tip in his favor.”
He added a warning that further investigations may follow.
“There’s no telling where this could go next,” Taylor said, suggesting other former officials or critics could face similar scrutiny.
Trending Politics reported that President Trump, speaking to reporters at the White House last Friday, confirmed that he had not been notified in advance about the FBI’s decision to raid Bolton’s home.
The president said he expected to be briefed on the outcome of the search later in the day.
He did not share additional information about what might have been recovered.
Bolton has been one of Trump’s most outspoken critics among former administration officials, particularly on foreign policy.
During his tenure, Bolton publicly challenged Trump’s decisions on international negotiations, military operations and national security strategy.
His disputes with Trump became more visible after leaving the administration, when he published a book sharply criticizing the president’s approach to diplomacy.
Bolton’s role also extended to impeachment proceedings, where he was called as a potential witness in Trump’s first impeachment trial.
The FBI raid adds another chapter to a lengthy history of conflict between Bolton and Trump.
Their differences on matters such as Iran, North Korea and relations with global allies had strained the relationship well before Bolton left the administration.

On Sunday, Vice President JD Vance commented on the FBI’s actions during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
He directly addressed questions about whether the operation was motivated by politics or revenge.
Vance dismissed those claims, defending the bureau’s conduct as a legitimate and necessary action.
He said the operation was supported by legal authorization and should not be interpreted as part of a political campaign against former officials.
His remarks countered Taylor’s suggestion that the raid reflected a “revenge campaign” orchestrated by Trump. Vance maintained that the search followed proper legal processes.
