President Donald Trump just suggested that former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) ought to be investigated for criminal wrongdoing.
Trump did so in a social media message that he posted over the weekend.
Take a look:
I just watched Sloppy Chris Christie be interviewed on a ratings challenged “News” Show, “This Week With George Slopadopolus,” on ABC Fake News (By the way, what the “hell” happened to Jonathan Karl’s hair? He looks absolutely terrible! It’s amazing what bad ratings, on a failed…

Here’s what galvanized Trump:
Trump’s message did not just come out of left field. Rather, he was responding to a recent appearance by Christie on mainstream media.
There, Christie took issue with the Trump administration’s recent raid of John Bolton’s home and office. The New York Post reports:
FBI agents raided the Maryland home and Washington, DC office of President Trump’s former national security adviser John Bolton Friday morning in a high-profile probe of allegations that he sent “highly sensitive” classified documents to his family from a private email server while working in the White House.
For Christie, this crossed a line.
During his media appearance, he said:
I think it’s kind of funny to hear the president talk the way he does about Bolton and classified information, yet when he had classified information, the same rules didn’t apply.
Suffice it to say that Trump did not take too kindly to this remark.
“No one is above the law!”
The president quickly responded with a message on social media.
He wrote:

He looks absolutely terrible! It’s amazing what bad ratings, on a failed television show that was forced to pay me $16,000,000, can do to one’s appearance!). Can anyone believe anything that Sloppy Chris says? Do you remember the way he lied about the dangerous and deadly closure of the George Washington Bridge in order to stay out of prison, at the same time sacrificing people who worked for him, including a young mother, who spent years trying to fight off the vicious charges against her. Chris refused to take responsibility for these criminal acts. For the sake of JUSTICE, perhaps we should start looking at that very serious situation again? NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DJT
If you are not familiar with what Trump is referring to, the Washington Examiner fills in the blanks.
It writes:
Trump tuned in to Christie’s Sunday show appearance on ABC News, after which he raged against his noted critic and resurfaced the decade-old scandal that saw Christie’s chief of staff and a Port Authority official close off lanes on the George Washington Bridge in an effort to create a traffic jam for a mayor who refused to endorse Christie’s gubernatorial reelection bid.
The outlet goes on to note that Christie “was never charged,” and that he “consistently denied knowing of it.” Two officials from his administration, though, were charged and convicted for fraud and conspiracy.
