Law & order? No, we can’t have that says the Democrats. Instead they choose crime. That’s the only conclusion one can draw from the tantrums the Democrats have been throwing lately.
Case in point: Illinois
President Trump has warned that National Guard troops may be sent to assist in getting criminals arrested and off the streets of Chicago. Police there are stretched thin, and have been defunded to a certain extent. Crime of all kinds, no matter what Governor Pritzker says, has been rampant across the entire city for years.
Police said multiple suspects in a Jeep SUV damaged the front entrance of the store by driving into it before going in and taking property from inside.

As our long-time readers know, we’ve written extensively about Chicago’s crime issues. And the stats aren’t pretty.
Chicagoans suffered 28,443 violent crimes during 2024, with cases of aggravated assaults rising to the highest levels in two decades, police data shows.
City residents reported 1,614 fewer violent crimes last year than in 2023 as cases of homicide, robbery and criminal sexual assault declined. Violent crimes have been trending upward for the past decade.
Arrests were made in about 1-in-7 violent crimes. The arrest rate has been trending down for 20 years.
And how many arrests have led to convictions? Not enough. Especially when too many criminals are walking free given that Illinois got rid of cash bail in 2023.
WOW—@PamBondi articulates WHY Eliminating Cashless Bail is Crucial:
“A single mom’s house was burglarized. The defendant got out on cashless bail, went back the next night & burglarized her house again….A man got in a fight with another guy who had a gun. He was [jailed]. Next… pic.twitter.com/2RRzaXV626

Furthermore, no matter how people have tried to spin it, Chicago is tops or in the top five of cities for homicides. Not exactly a stellar stat one wants to brag about.
But essentially that is what Mayor Brandon Johnson is doing when he is now on record trying to keep President Trump from sending the National Guard into town.
“Chicago’s a mess. You have an incompetent mayor. Grossly incompetent,” Trump said on Friday, adding that the Windy City will “be our next one after this,” a reference to the current security presence in Washington.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, a Democrat, said in a statement on Friday that his city has yet to receive details about additional federal law enforcement or military deployments to Chicago. He called the Trump administration’s efforts “uncoordinated, uncalled-for and unsound.”
Johnson isn’t a fan of bringing law and order to his city.
Investing in our communities is what makes our city safer. There are many things the federal government could do to help us reduce crime and violence in Chicago, but sending in the military is not one of them. pic.twitter.com/dBt2L7VpFm

Johnson and all the previous Democrat mayors have had decades of time to invest in making Chicago safe for all. But they haven’t done so. Instead, this move by Trump to try to bring in law and order, is tyrannical.
BREAKING – Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is now calling on the citizens of Chicago to “rise up and fight against tyranny,” directly urging violence if President Trump sends in the National Guard to reduce crime in the city. pic.twitter.com/6bTQvNZ1wO

Oh, so it’s tyranny to want law and order? It’s tyranny to crack down on those breaking the law, and try to make the city safer for law-abiding citizens? Good to know.
Chicago isn’t the only city that has a crime problem. Baltimore is another. And, since the city has been called out, Maryland Governor Wes Moore has his shorts in a knot.
Well, Baltimore DOES have a crime problem. Moore can claim all he wants that crime is supposedly down by 20% across the state, but that’s small comfort to local citizens.
The discovery of 28-year-old Wilson Marroquin Caceros’ body on Monday morning has heightened concerns among South Baltimore residents. Caceros, who had been shot, was found by Baltimore police, marking another violent incident in the city.
“There’s other things that happen in the neighborhood but that’s the first time that we’ve heard of a body being found,” said a local resident, reflecting the community’s growing unease.
Since August 11, Baltimore has witnessed 11 shootings, including a recent incident in Fells Point early Friday morning. “That’s crazy. It’s like they’re trying to set a record or something,” said another resident, highlighting the frequency of violence in the busy business district.
By Friday night, police responded to another fatal shooting in West Baltimore, marking the third homicide of the week.
Baltimore has a years-long crime problem. What is Wes Moore’s response? Invite President Trump to go for a dog-and-pony show “walk.” Trump, via Truth Social, bluntly declined Moore’s offer.
Here’s something that both Chicago and Baltimore are grappling with. The political calls to defund the police since the George Floyd riots have born fruit. The police departments in both cities (as well as too many others) are underfunded and definitely undermanned.
The Baltimore Police Department lost hundreds of officers last year, sparking a judge and police leadership to sound the alarm that the rate of cops leaving the force is unsustainable, and the city cannot bear to lose even more in 2023.
“I can’t overstate the seriousness of the staffing issue,” Judge James K. Bredar said during a police consent decree hearing this month, according to CBS News.
Baltimore lost about 279 officers in 2022, according to the judge, and currently has 2,150 officers on the force. All in, the city is short at least 600 officers, according to Baltimore City Fraternal Order of Police President Mike Mancuso.
In 2024, Chicago barely managed to recruit and hire 103 officers. In 2018, they hired over 1200.
The Democrat mayors and governors don’t want President Trump to utilize the National Guard to help bring law and order to their cities and states. By refusing help, they are also refusing to listen to their own citizens, who HATE the crime and want law and order.
