The Republican National Committee on Friday chose Joe Gruters (pictured right) as its chairman, replacing Michael Whatley (pictured left), who left the post to pursue a North Carolina Senate bid.
“What an honor to be elected as the next RNC Chairman and to have the trust and support of President Trump and the Republican Party,” Gruters said in a post on X announcing his new role in the Party.
“We will pick up right where @ChairmanWhatley left off and hit the ground running, working to expand our majorities,” he said.
Gruters previously served as the treasurer for the RNC and is a Florida state senator.
“Today’s election marks an important moment of unity for the Republican National Committee. We are grateful to the members of the RNC for their tireless work in service of our Party. Together, we’re fighting for election integrity and supporting President Trump’s America First agenda,” Gruters said in a statement with Whatley.
Gruters faced no challengers for the position, with Trump quickly endorsing his candidacy.
“MAGA Warrior Joe Gruters, who has been with us from the very beginning, is running to become the next Chairman of the Republican National Committee, succeeding the Great Michael Whatley, who just launched his Campaign for the U.S. Senate from North Carolina,” he said earlier this month.
