Ron DeSantis isn’t backing down from a fight that could reshape American politics.
The Florida Governor just made a move that has Washington, D.C. scrambling.
And Ron DeSantis gave Donald Trump one demand that could change everything.
DeSantis demands Trump fix the rigged 2020 Census
Governor Ron DeSantis and Attorney General James Uthmeier held a press conference Wednesday afternoon that sent shockwaves through the political establishment.
The Florida leaders announced they’re demanding the Trump administration award Florida at least one additional congressional seat – and they’re not taking no for an answer.
Speaking at Palm Beach State College, DeSantis laid out the case that Florida got royally screwed by the 2020 Census under Joe Biden’s watch.
“Even the Biden administration acknowledged that Florida got shortchanged in the reapportionment stemming from the last census,” DeSantis declared.¹

The numbers don’t lie.
Data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s own 2022 Post-Enumeration Survey revealed Florida was undercounted by a staggering 3.5% – one of the highest undercount rates in the entire country.²
That’s not just a statistical error.
That’s nearly 2 million Floridians who got erased from the political map.
“My office is working with Attorney General Uthmeier in our mission to secure Floridians’ due representation in Congress and to fix mistakes that have been identified in the aftermath of the 2020 Census,” DeSantis explained.³
Attorney General calls out the deep state census rigging
Attorney General Uthmeier didn’t mince words about what really happened during the 2020 Census.
“Florida was robbed by the left’s multi-year effort to rig the 2020 Census, and Floridians didn’t get the representation they deserve in Congress,” Uthmeier stated.⁴

But here’s where it gets really interesting.
Uthmeier has already fired off an official letter to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick – with President Trump cc’d on the communication.
The message is crystal clear: Fix this now, or Florida will force the issue through mid-decade redistricting.
“It’s clear that there’s been, for a long time now, a deep state effort to manipulate the census and shift electoral power to blue states, to sanctuary states,” Uthmeier revealed.⁵
Think about what he just exposed.
While sanctuary states like California pad their numbers by counting illegal aliens, states like Florida that actually enforce immigration laws get penalized in congressional representation.
It’s a rigged game designed to reward Democrat policies and punish conservative states.
The stakes couldn’t be higher for 2026
DeSantis made it clear this isn’t just about congressional seats – it’s about fundamentally changing the balance of power in Washington, D.C.
“And if we get that, that’s not only an extra seat in the house of representatives. We have 28 now. That would also mean an additional vote in the electoral college when it comes to presidential elections,” DeSantis explained.⁶

The timing is no coincidence.
With the 2026 midterms less than two years away, every House seat matters for Trump’s agenda.
DeSantis pointed out that Florida has been the number one destination for Americans fleeing blue state disasters since April 2020.
“When I got elected Governor, I think we had about 21 million people. Now we’re almost 23.5 million people in the state of Florida, but our current congressional districts are reflective of that reality from 2019, beginning of 2020,” the Governor noted.⁷
That’s nearly 2.5 million new Floridians who deserve representation in Congress.
But under the current rigged system, they’re being ignored while California gets to count illegal aliens for extra House seats.
Florida threatens mid-decade redistricting
Here’s where DeSantis really turned up the pressure.
If the Trump administration doesn’t fix the census undercount, Florida is prepared to redraw its congressional map before the 2026 elections.
“This is something that we are going to have to address as a state,” DeSantis declared. “I’ve spoken with some folks in the Florida Legislature and I think that there’s broad acknowledgement that this is something that is going to have to happen.”⁸
Mid-decade redistricting isn’t common, but it’s completely legal.
Texas did it in 2003, and the Supreme Court ruled that federal law doesn’t prohibit states from redrawing districts between census counts.
DeSantis and Uthmeier are betting that Trump will want to maximize Republican House seats heading into the crucial 2026 midterms.
“We are going to press this issue,” DeSantis promised. “The Attorney General told me he’s going to be willing to go up to Washington, D.C. and talk to people in the Commerce Department to be able to get this right.”⁹
What this means for America First
The bigger picture here is about fairness in American elections.
For decades, blue states have gamed the census system by counting illegal aliens while red states that enforce immigration laws get shortchanged.
It’s a deliberate strategy to shift political power away from law-and-order states toward sanctuary jurisdictions.
DeSantis and Uthmeier are calling out this rigged system and demanding equal treatment under the law.
If Florida gets its additional House seat, it would likely go to a Republican – further cementing Trump’s congressional majority.
But more importantly, it would establish the precedent that accurate population counts matter more than political manipulation.
Other red states are watching this fight closely.
Texas is already pushing for its own mid-decade redistricting, and more could follow if DeSantis succeeds.
The Left knows their census rigging scheme is falling apart, which is why Democrat leaders are “freaking out” about deportations, as Uthmeier noted.
They built their electoral strategy around counting people who shouldn’t be in the country in the first place.
Now that Trump is serious about mass deportations, their whole house of cards is collapsing.
DeSantis just fired the first shot in what could become a nationwide effort to restore honest representation in Congress.
And with Trump back in the White House, he might just have the power to make it happen.
