The FBI raided the home of former National Security Adviser John Bolton in Bethesda, Maryland, early on the morning of Friday, August 22.
The search was part of a national security investigation focused on locating classified records.
This from independent.co.uk.
According to officials, the case originated during The Regime’s occupation but gained momentum after FBI Director Kash Patel took office earlier this year. Patel posted on X at the approximate time of the raid:
NO ONE is above the law… @FBI agents on mission.
The FBI described the raid as “court-authorized activity,” meaning a judge found probable cause that evidence of a crime may be found at Bolton’s residence. That alone suggests the investigation is more than speculative.
Bolton, who served under both George W. Bush and Donald Trump, has been a vocal critic of Trump since leaving office. He previously faced scrutiny over his 2020 memoir, which allegedly contained classified material, though the Justice Department dropped its lawsuit in 2021.
As of now, Bolton has not been charged or detained, and the FBI has not released further details about the scope or findings of the search.
The raid was part of a national security investigation into whether Bolton retained classified records from his time in office. If such documents were found, it could lead to charges under the Espionage Act or statutes related to unauthorized retention of national defense information. And if the investigation does lead to charges, it could set a precedent for how former officials are held accountable for document security.
Recall, Hillary Clinton used a private email server during her tenure as Secretary of State. The FBI found over 2,000 emails containing classified information, including 110 emails that were classified at the time they were sent.
God speed to the Trump-Vance team.
