A man who allegedly accused Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) of snatching his wife is now the prime suspect in her murder.
Sheylla Gutierrez, 33, was found dead in the Angeles National Forest after being reported missing. Her husband, 36-year-old Jossimar Cabrera, fled to Peru with their three children after her disappearance.
Surveillance video from a Ring camera captured Cabrera dragging a large object wrapped in what appeared to be a blanket — the same fabric his wife was wrapped in when found.

Cabrera was questioned by Peruvian National Police before his wife’s body was found, but was released because no charges were filed against him, ABC 7 reported.
Gutierrez’s sister said Cabrera told her family that ICE had taken her into custody, according to the affiliate. He allegedly also said later his wife had left him for another man, and that she had suffered an accident, though he declined to share details.
On Thursday, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office filed a murder charge against Cabrera and said they will begin working on having him extradited to the U.S. to face the charges. It’s not clear what his immigration status is.

Jossimar Cabrera claimed that his missing wife, Sheylla Guitierrez, was detained by ICE. However, surveillance footage of Jossimar’s home shows him dragging around a body-sized bag.
Police later found his wife’s body in the woods.

“The three children were found safe Saturday and taken into protective custody in Peru,” ABC 7 reported, citing Los Angeles Sheriff’s officials. “Peru’s foreign ministry said on social media that it had repatriated the children back to Los Angeles via Mexico City to be reunited with their mother’s family.”
