Breaking Defense is excited to announce a major new addition with Mark Pomerleau as a senior staff reporter, starting September 2.
Pomerleau is highly esteemed in defense technology reporting circles, the leading reporter covering defense information technology, cyber, electronic warfare and combat networks. His work has focused on how these technologies impact warfighting and the defense enterprise and how industry plans and develops systems. He will continue his best-in-field reporting on this sector now for Breaking Defense, with new opportunities covering digital warfare at the world’s largest newsroom dedicated to defense.
Pomerleau currently writes for DefenseScoop, where he built out defense technology coverage as their first reporter. Prior to that, he had a long tenure at C4ISRNET, where he was the lead reporter for the publication, while also contributing to Defense News. Pomerleau has over a decade of experience focused on the defense networks and information warfare, carving a well-earned reputation as the preeminent reporter in this high-growth sector of defense.
“I got to work alongside Mark when he was first starting out, and it’s been fun to watch from afar as he’s grown into the dominant reporter on these topics,” said Aaron Mehta, Breaking Defense editor in chief. “He brings a unique understanding of not just the technology, but the people and processes that drive this ever-evolving beat. I’m very much looking forward to having him on the team to continue to expand our coverage in these areas.”
“I couldn’t be more delighted to have Mark Pomerleau join our amazing team at Breaking Defense, to focus and expand our coverage of defense networks and information warfare,” said David Smith, Publisher and Managing Director. “Mark is the ace of reporters in this high growth market sector. I have known Mark and read his work since his earliest days in this field and have tremendous respect for the reputation and expertise he has built.
“It’s fitting that he now joins Breaking Defense as we continue our remarkable path of growth and success,” Smith added. “We’ll offer him a broader spotlight and new opportunities to feature his exceptional journalism covering the technologies that are transforming the world of defense.”
