Newsmax employees and television personalities are grieving the sudden loss of a longtime makeup artist who worked across several major networks.
Travis Renee Baldwin, 57, was murdered inside her apartment in Arlington, Virginia, over the weekend, according to authorities.
Baldwin’s career spanned decades in the television news industry.
She worked behind the scenes at Newsmax, ABC and ESPN, where she became known for her professionalism, talent and ability to connect personally with anchors, correspondents and guests.
Her work placed her at the center of daily broadcast operations, and her presence was valued by many across the industry.
Arlington County police announced on Sunday that Baldwin was killed in her residence in the Virginia Square neighborhood.
Investigators identified her son, 27-year-old Logan Chrisinger, as the suspect.
He was arrested at the scene and has been charged with first-degree murder.
Officers were dispatched to the Virginia Square Towers on Fairfax Drive shortly before 8:30 a.m, according to WRC-TV.
When they arrived, Baldwin was found suffering from a gunshot wound.
She was transported to a nearby hospital but later died from her injuries, officials confirmed.
The medical examiner has not yet released an official cause of death.
Police stated that Chrisinger was inside the apartment when officers entered.
He was arrested without incident and transported to the Arlington County Detention Facility, where he is being held without bond.
Court records indicate that no attorney has yet been assigned to represent him.
Authorities have not disclosed a motive in the case.
The Arlington County Police Department said the investigation remains active, and no additional details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting have been made public.
The Virginia Square Towers, where the incident occurred, is a residential complex located near a busy section of Fairfax Drive.
Neighbors reported increased police activity on Sunday morning as officers secured the building and began their investigation.
Baldwin’s death has deeply affected her colleagues in the television industry, many of whom shared tributes on social media.
They remembered her as a gifted professional and a friend whose presence brought humor and warmth to the workplace.
Greta Van Susteren, a Newsmax host, expressed her sorrow in a post on X. “What sadness….my Newsmax make up artist of 3 1/2 years, and years at @ABC @espn etc and a friend to all of her colleagues…was murdered over the weekend…she did my make up Friday for the show and of course I never dreamed that would be the last time I would see her…”
James Rosen, White House correspondent for Newsmax, honored Baldwin with a photo and the caption, “Renee Baldwin RIP.”
Former Newsmax host Lyndsay Keith wrote, “Such heartbreaking news. She also did my makeup for years and was the kindest soul.”
Popular commentator Amber Duke, a frequent guest on the network, remembered Baldwin for her humor and positivity. “A kind, generous, funny woman who always brightened the day of anyone who sat in her chair,” Duke said.
She explained that she looked forward to Fridays at Newsmax because Baldwin’s sense of humor made the day more enjoyable.
Virginia Allen, a television producer, also expressed her grief. “Renee was honest, loving, and so talented. Newsmax will never feel the same without her,” Allen wrote.
