For years, President Donald Trump has emphasized the need to strengthen election integrity and the nation’s electoral processes to safeguard against potential voter fraud, and he appears poised to take significant action in this regard.
Trump announced on Monday that he will soon sign an executive order aimed at banning mail-in ballot voting and electronic voting machines, according to Breitbart.
Democrats, whom Trump accuses of benefiting politically from alleged fraud related to those two electoral processes, were predictably outraged by the announcement, and the media wasted no time in attempting to debunk and disprove some of the questionable claims made by the president.
Trump aims to “get rid of” mail-in ballots and voting machines
“I am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS,” President Trump wrote in a Truth Social post early on Monday morning.
“And also, while we’re at it,” he continued, “Highly ‘Inaccurate,’ Very Expensive, and Seriously Controversial VOTING MACHINES, which cost Ten Times more than accurate and sophisticated Watermark Paper, which is faster, and leaves NO DOUBT, at the end of the evening, as to who WON, and who LOST, the Election.”
“We are now the only Country in the World that uses Mail-In Voting. All others gave it up because of the MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD ENCOUNTERED,” the president said. “WE WILL BEGIN THIS EFFORT, WHICH WILL BE STRONGLY OPPOSED BY THE DEMOCRATS BECAUSE THEY CHEAT AT LEVELS NEVER SEEN BEFORE, by signing an EXECUTIVE ORDER to help bring HONESTY to the 2026 Midterm Elections.”
“Remember, the States are merely an ‘agent’ for the Federal Government in counting and tabulating the votes,” Trump claimed. “They must do what the Federal Government, as represented by the President of the United States, tells them, FOR THE GOOD OF OUR COUNTRY, to do.”
Trump says Democrats rely on voter fraud to win elections
President Trump went on to lament the “HORRIBLE Radical Left policies” of the Democratic Party that, in his view, have rendered them “virtually Unelectable without using this completely disproven Mail-In SCAM.”
“ELECTIONS CAN NEVER BE HONEST WITH MAIL IN BALLOTS/VOTING, and everybody, IN PARTICULAR THE DEMOCRATS, KNOWS THIS,” he continued. “I, AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, WILL FIGHT LIKE HELL TO BRING HONESTY AND INTEGRITY BACK TO OUR ELECTIONS. THE MAIL-IN BALLOT HOAX, USING VOTING MACHINES THAT ARE A COMPLETE AND TOTAL DISASTER, MUST END, NOW!!!”
The president added, “REMEMBER, WITHOUT FAIR AND HONEST ELECTIONS, AND STRONG AND POWERFUL BORDERS, YOU DON’T HAVE EVEN A SEMBLANCE OF A COUNTRY.”
Democrats and media challenge Trump’s claims
The oppositional outcry from enraged Democrats was both immediate and predictable, as was the swift rush by the media to “fact-check” and correct the several claims made by President Trump about mail-in ballots and voting machines.
According to FactCheck.org, as one example, more than two dozen other nations still use mail-in ballots to some extent, the states are not “agents” of the federal government in terms of administering elections, the president has little to no executive authority to alter state-level voting procedures, and there is minimal documented evidence of widespread election fraud using either mail-in ballots or electronic voting machines.
That said, it was acknowledged that the Justice Department has some authority to change election procedures in individual states to protect voting rights, as does Congress in terms of how national elections are conducted, and it was further admitted that, while lacking evidence, there is indeed the increased potential for fraud via mail-in ballots and voting machines in comparison to paper ballots cast on Election Day.
Breitbart noted that while Trump’s post likely “sounds ridiculous” to some, the president has proven over the past decade his knack for accomplishing the “impossible,” and suggested that Americans shouldn’t be surprised to see a flurry of election-related litigation, legislation, federal investigations, and executive actions over the next year in the run-up to the 2026 midterm elections, at least some of which may succeed in ending or drastically reducing the use of mail-in ballots and voting machines.
