Over the last few weeks, we have seen multiple reports on how Obama officials were trying to tilt the scales against Trump in the 2016 election.
DNI Tulsi Gabbard declassified hundreds of documents that leave little doubt this went right to the top of the administration, including Barack Obama.
Now, Trump is taking action, having reportedly ordered Gabbard to revoke clearances of 37 former officials.
They Were in on It
When Gabbard declassified the documents, Democrats issued the usual pushback on the claims she made.
However, the documents were all internal documents, such as emails, which came directly from the officials she was claiming were in on the plot against Trump.
To me, at least, they clearly showed that Trump was added to the Russian interference narrative to take him down.
Yet, Democrats continue to argue that the real point here is the Russian interference, but that is not the case. Again, this is about Democrats saying Trump was in on the interference, not the interference itself, which, by the way, happens in every election and has taken place for decades.
The Usual Denials
As noted above, Democrats, especially those involved, started to issue denial after denial, claiming this was all made up and a perfect example of the weaponization of the government.
Two of the people involved, former DNI James Clapper and former CIA Director John Brennan, even went so far as to write a letter in the New York Times that they had done nothing wrong.
They stated, “That is patently false. In making those allegations, they seek to rewrite history. We want to set the record straight and, in doing so, sound a warning.”
They later added, “Every serious review has substantiated the intelligence community’s fundamental conclusion that the Russians conducted an influence campaign intended to help Mr. Trump win the 2016 election.”
Security Clearances Revoked
Gabbard is not rewriting history; she is exposing it, and they know the walls are starting to close in.
Gabbard announced the security clearances being revoked, stating, “Being entrusted with a security clearance is a privilege, not a right. Those in the Intelligence Community who betray their oath to the Constitution and put their own interests ahead of the interests of the American people have broken the sacred trust they promised to uphold.
“Our Intelligence Community must be committed to upholding the values and principles enshrined in the US Constitution and maintain a laser-like focus on our mission of ensuring the safety, security, and freedom of the American people.”
With everything we now know, I only have one real question for Gabbard… what took so long?
