Breaking out the violins. National Public Radio (NPR) is now running an appeal notice at the end of articles on their website, directly blaming President Trump for the loss of $1.1 billion in federal funding for the next two years.
NPR, which has been a target of conservatives for decades for its left-wing reporting, has been sucking on the federal teet with little recourse as attempts by Republicans in Congress failed to gather enough support to defund it.
Now that the Trump administration has successfully managed to steer legislation through Congress to cut off funding for the next two years, NPR and their liberal supporters have gone into full panic mode in an attempt to save the network of stations that comprise it.
The funding appeal is much like what other left-wing organizations like The Guardian and Wikipedia do in order to help meet their expenses, and if NPR needs money they should look for public support. After all, public is in their name not federal.
With its loyal liberal following, NPR should be able to plug some if not all their budget gap with private donations, which is the way it should be rather than being subsidized by taxpayers.
