I think Andrew Bailey was an excellent replacement for former Missouri Attorney General-now-Senator Eric Schmitt (who replaced now-Senator Josh Hawley) but this news was confusing. It was announced yesterday that Bailey will leave his AG role to become a Co-Deputy FBI Director.
Hawley, Schmitt, and Bailey were absolute lions as attorneys general and Schmitt and Bailey led the state-by-state pushback (along with Texas’s Ken Paxton) during the Biden regime. It reads like a demotion to accept a co-deputy job. It’s as if they’re trying to make up for a lack of legal muscle by grafting two people, one with legal expertise and a history of leading investigations, for what has always been one role.
