Costco shoppers finally got the change they’ve been waiting for. The warehouse giant has officially swapped Pepsi products for Coca-Cola in its food courts.
The move had been expected for months. Back in January, Costco announced it would return to Coke after years of carrying Pepsi.
Costco first made the switch to Pepsi in 2013. At the time, executives said it helped keep the iconic $1.50 hot dog and soda combo at the same low price.
“This summer we will be converting our food court fountain business back over to Coca-Cola,” CEO Ron Vachris said earlier this year. He didn’t give an exact date, leaving shoppers to wonder when the change would arrive.
Fountain machines began switching in July at locations across the U.S. However, some warehouses, including those in New Jersey, didn’t see the rollout until this month.
The big question for customers, of course, was whether the legendary food court deal would survive the transition. Costco quickly reassured members that the hot dog and soda combo would remain at $1.50.
So while the label on your cup has changed, the price tag hasn’t. Shoppers can now sip on Coke alongside their hot dog, and the fan-favorite meal deal lives on.
