Here’s some friendly advice. If you are a statewide prosecutor, especially in a tiny state like Rhode Island, and you are being asked to leave a restaurant… leave quietly. It is not going to work out for you if you make a scene, especially when that scene is being recorded by a police officer’s body cam footage. Should you not follow that advice, DEFINITELY don’t pull the “do you know who I am” card.
Rhode Island Assistant AG Devon Hogan Flanagan did not follow this advice. As a result, we have a hilarious sacrifice on the altar before the deity or deities of content.
Flangan’s friend didn’t help matters.
FLANAGAN: Shut off your body cam. I demand it.
FRIEND: She’s a f*cking lawyer. She knows.
COP: LOL, no.
FLANAGAN: You’re going to regret it. I’m an A…
(slams squad car door in her face)
COP: Arrested? Agreed.
It’s unclear why they were asked to leave, though according to local news reports, they were out with the friend’s husband and children as well. Various posts on X spreading the content implied that drunkenness was involved. However, no news report has confirmed that either person was inebriated.
Could there have been one too many bottles of sauvignon blanc involved? It’s mere speculation at this point, but it’s two entitled white women being asked to leave a restaurant, so speculation is being speculated.
The Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office is not commenting on the matter and/or the hilarious content. They are reviewing the incident, though.
