Chief Justice of the Supreme Court: Don’t criticize our decisions; criticize our judges.
On Monday, the chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court told an event that people should only criticize the court’s choices and not the nine justices themselves.
Chief Justice John Roberts said at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., that the Supreme Court “has obviously made mistakes throughout its history, and those should be criticized, so long as it is in terms of the decision.”
Roberts said that attacks on the highest court should not be based on “ad hominem” arguments or attacks “against the justices” themselves. Ad hominem is a logical fallacy in which an argument is thrown out because of the person saying it.
In a rare written statement in March, Roberts appeared to respond to President Donald Trump’s public suggestion to impeach a federal judge who had blocked his administration’s deportations of accused Venezuelan gang members under the Alien Enemies Act.
A person who was relied upon to act with integrity and uphold what is right… however, it was unsuccessful.
We, as citizens of the United States, deserve protection, not those who are here illegally and engage in violence, sexual assault, murder, and human and drug trafficking. Robert should absolutely support President Trump’s efforts to safeguard LEGAL US Citizens who have consistently faced attacks from far-left corrupt elitists.
Isn’t the judgment and the individual making it… all integral to the decision?
What an impressive figure Justice Roberts has become. He appears to be keen on “educating” the public; however, I would advise that the informed public is not paying attention to his efforts to evade accountability for politically motivated choices that undermine the Constitution he vowed to protect.
The most significant deterioration of our justice system occurs when the chief justice of the Supreme Court issues a political statement.
Roberts ought to be aware of this.
Imagine instructing a woman, while she is enduring violence and sexual assault, to: “Detest the act but embrace the perpetrator.”
