American families once found common ground through sports. We set aside differences to cheer for our teams. The gridiron provided an escape from daily pressures and political battles. It offered three hours where only talent and hard work mattered.
But for the sixth consecutive year—yes, you read that right, six years of this stuff—the NFL has decided that football fields need more than yard lines and end zones. The league announced its 2025 lineup of social justice slogans that will cover every stadium. “End Racism,” “Stop Hate,” “Choose Love,” “Inspire Change,” and the mandatory “It Takes All of Us” will appear in end zones across the league. Teams can rotate these messages throughout the season. That way fans never forget their entertainment comes with corporate-approved activism.

Really? A unifying force? Let me ask you something—do you feel more united watching football today than you did ten years ago? I don’t think so.
The Price of Preaching
Here’s what burns me up. Since 2017, the NFL has pumped $460 million into what it calls its “Inspire Change” initiative. That’s nearly half a billion dollars. All while average families struggle to afford tickets to games in stadiums we paid for with our taxes.
Think about what that money represents. Corporate executives making millions decide what messages working-class fans need to see. Meanwhile, parking costs $50 and beers run $15. A family of four can easily drop $500 for a few hours of entertainment. Entertainment that now comes with mandatory political education.
The league supports over 650 organizations and 2,100 players and alumni with this money. That’s great. But maybe focus on making games affordable first?
Forced Unity Creates Division
The NFL insists these messages promote unity. But look, real unity doesn’t need a marketing team. Forced slogans plastered across playing fields do the opposite. They divide us more.
Real unity happened naturally for decades when football was about football. Not about telling us what to think. People from different backgrounds came together for a shared passion. No slogans required.
The Philadelphia Eagles will debut “Choose Love” when they host the Dallas Cowboys in the season opener. The league notes this phrase “continues to resonate” after the Buffalo Bills used it following a local tragedy. But when you turn real grief into marketing? That’s just wrong.
