Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard is raising serious questions about Dr. Anthony Fauci’s role in COVID-19 research, suggesting he may have misled Congress about U.S.-funded experiments at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
While speaking with Megyn Kelly, Gabbard said there is an active investigation into the origin of the pandemic and whether Fauci was truthful under oath.
Gabbard revealed she is working closely with new NIH Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to uncover the truth about gain-of-function research.
She explained that U.S. funds supported research at Wuhan and other international labs that could produce dangerous pathogens capable of triggering pandemics.
Kelly pressed Gabbard on whether investigators have identified the exact experiment responsible for COVID-19.
Gabbard said her team is working to establish a direct link and hopes to share findings soon, as the Conservative Brief reported.
“We’re working on that with Jay Bhattacharya and look forward to being able to share that hopefully very soon. That specific link between the gain-of-function research and what we saw with COVID-19,” she said.
The implications, Kelly noted, would be massive if confirmed. Fauci’s funding of the research he later denied under questioning by Senator Rand Paul could mean U.S. officials played a direct role in enabling the pandemic.
Gabbard agreed and suggested Fauci’s request for a pre-emptive pardon during the Biden administration may have been connected to this.
Gabbard also criticized Fauci and his allies for targeting scientists who raised questions about the virus’s origins, including Dr. Bhattacharya. She said dissenting voices were smeared to protect the official narrative that COVID-19 arose naturally.
Beyond COVID-19, Gabbard emphasized that gain-of-function research continues worldwide, posing ongoing global risks. She recalled being attacked for warning about U.S.-funded biolabs in Ukraine at the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, highlighting that information about these labs is publicly available through the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.
“The reason why this is so important isn’t that this happened in the past, it is that this gain-of-function research is happening in biolabs around the world,” Gabbard said. She warned that similar research could trigger future pandemics if not addressed.
Gabbard concluded that ending gain-of-function experiments is crucial to preventing another COVID-like outbreak. She urged the public and policymakers to act in the nation’s best interest to halt such research before it leads to further global health crises.
“…we have to end this gain-of-function research, provide evidence that shows exactly why and how it’s in our best interest — the American people’s best interest — to bring about an end to it,” Gabbard said.
The investigation into U.S.-funded gain-of-function research remains ongoing, and Gabbard’s statements signal a renewed push for accountability and transparency regarding the origins of COVID-19.
