President Donald Trump’s bold move to take over Washington D.C.’s police and crack down on crime has won universal praise, even as Democrats have quietly fumed at Trump’s power move.
Even CNN’s Elie Honig, a notorious radical leftist, was forced to admit that Trump’s tough-on-crime stance was a winning move and would win approval from voters who are eager to see strong and decisive action to tackle surging crime in American cities.
Honig, likely to his own distaste, begrudgingly explained that “It is dangerous, you cannot deny that. And a common police tactic is to surge resources.” He added that such tactics are often “applauded across the board, across the political board.”
Washington D.C., like other Democrat-run cities, has become overwhelmed by crime, and no amount of manipulated statistics could cover that fact up for Americans who either live there or have visited and witnessed the decrepit state of affairs.
Worse, Trump’s move to position himself as tough on crime has put Democrats on the side of criminals, a traditionally terrible place to be politically.
Cleaning up D.C.
When Trump announced the federalization of D.C.’s metropolitan police department, Democrats were quick to fly into a rage and screech about fascism. However, that tactic hasn’t worked for Democrats once, and this situation appears to be more of the same.
On Wednesday’s broadcast of “CNN NewsNight,” Honig explained, “I’ve worked extensively with police, and I don’t have a problem, tactically, with what Donald Trump is doing here. [It] doesn’t have to be the most dangerous place on earth… I work in D.C. It is dangerous there. You cannot deny that.”
He went on to highlight the fact that Washington D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser hasn’t gone to court over the issue despite loudly proclaiming that the Trump administration had broken the law in seizing control of D.C.’s police force.
Honig asked, “Where’s the chief of the Metro PD? Where’s the mayor? If they disagreed with this, if they felt this was so illegal, unwarranted, inappropriate, why have they not challenged it? Why have they not — they’ve challenged it rhetorically, but they haven’t gone to court on it.”
Democrats are more interested in hysterical posturing that will drum up outrage among leftists who will then go out and assault federal and local law enforcement while they clean up D.C.
D.C. is only the beginning
Turns out that acting unilaterally and taking decisive action gets results and makes voters happy. So far, Trump’s escapades in D.C. have proven popular with his base, which means more interventions are on the way.
Attorney General Pam Bondi has already threatened sanctuary cities with the revocation of federal funding if they don’t comply with federal law enforcement. There are also talks of federalization in other cities like Chicago, which has been a violent hellhole for decades, thanks to Democrat leadership.
Trump could score real points with voters if federal law enforcement, in coordination with Chicago’s police force, sweeps through the Windy City and brings order, even if for just a short time.
Americans are exhausted with soft-on-crime Democrats who allow criminals to run rampant. This is a slam dunk for Trump and a headache for Democrats who have high aspirations for the 2026 midterm elections.
