“My father always used to tell me… ‘Son, when you walk into a restaurant & you see a dirty front door, don’t go in. Because if the front door is dirty, the kitchen is dirty also.’…If our capital is dirty, our whole country is dirty.” – President Donald Trump.
After 19 year-old DOGE staffer Edward “BigBalls” Coristine was attacked earlier this month, Trump decided enough was enough. He has directed the federal takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department, with the full support of the police union, and deployed the DC National Guard to back up the police. According to Sec 740 of DC’s Home Rule Act, the President has about 30 days to clean up DC. After that, control of the MPD reverts to the DC government unless Congress steps in.
The mainstream media spent the whole day on Tuesday trying to assign nefarious reasons, like racism, to the President’s takeover of the MPD. They’ve been quoting DC Crime stats, claiming that crime is actually on the decrease in DC; however, those stats can not be trusted. In mid-July, DC’s Third District Commander Michael Pulliam was put on administrative leave for tampering with crime stats.
(*SIDENOTE: It seems that the new DC Chief ousted her district commander in retaliation over a dispute with the officer’s wife, who was in charge of a Juvenile Investigative Response Unit and doing great work until the Chief picked a fight with her over staffing hours.)
Gregg Pemberton, the FOP Chairman, expressed disbelief in the current crime stats, “There’s absolutely no way crime could be down 28%. Last year, they suggested that it went down 34%.” He said officers are frequently instructed by supervisors to downgrade serious felony reports to lesser offenses. The MPD command staff is directing the practice in an effort to keep reported crime figures low, according to the union. Residents of DC seem to agree with the FOP Chairman. When told at a recent meeting that crime was down, one resident said, “It shows such a lack and disconnect between what you’re trying to sell and what we’re experiencing.”
