A Wisconsin man is facing serious prison time after admitting to a disturbing workplace incident that left a co-worker sick and suspicious.
Prosecutors say 35-year-old Joseph R. Ross pleaded guilty to a felony charge of placing foreign objects in edibles after he was caught on hidden camera putting super glue into a female co-worker’s soda at the Wisconsin State Fair.
According to court records, the victim — identified as “JH” — first noticed a strange chemical smell and taste in her drinks weeks earlier. After falling ill, she decided to set up a surveillance camera at her desk. The footage allegedly showed Ross, wearing latex gloves, slipping a liquid from a brown-and-orange tube into her open can of Coke.
Police say the “supplement” Ross admitted to adding was actually Gorilla Brand Super Glue, which carries a clear warning label against ingestion. Officers found the glue container hidden inside wadded-up gloves in his office during a search.
JH’s contaminated soda was sent to the Wisconsin Crime Lab for testing, and Ross now faces up to three-and-a-half years in prison and a $10,000 fine when he’s sentenced on October 9.
Witnesses say the victim acted quickly by setting up the camera the same morning she caught him in the act — a move that may have prevented further harm.
