U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced Wednesday that the agency had arrested three illegal immigrants in Long Island, New York, alleged to be MS-13 gang members, with a combined 14 counts of attempted murder and 49 counts of assault.
“As a result of a joint operation between the Nassau County Police Department and ICE, three alleged dangerous gang members charged with murder and other serious crimes were apprehended and are now incarcerated pending trial or deportation, making us an even safer county and region,” Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman told The New York Post in a statement.
The trio are currently in Nassau County police custody following a joint operation between ICE New York City, the Nassau County Police Department, and the FBI on August 8. Each of the three has an extensive criminal record, including charges of attempted murder, gang assault, and weapon possession.
ICE says it has lodged immigration detainers against all three and will assume custody after their release from the New York justice system.
Twenty-one-year-old Elias Wilfredo Serrano Bonilla immigrated illegally from El Salvador sometime prior to December 2016. In 2020, the Nassau County Police Department arrested and charged him with first-degree assault and first-degree gang assault. Upon his recent arrest in August, Bonilla was charged with eight counts of attempted murder, several counts of assault and robbery, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Nineteen-year-old Edras Daniel Velasquez Giron illegally entered the U.S. from Honduras sometime before June 2022. In 2023, an immigration judge in New York ordered him removed to Honduras in absentia. Upon his recent arrest in August, he was charged with six counts of attempted murder, several counts of assault, conspiracy to perform a Class A felony, and multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Twenty-year-old Jeffrey Bladimir Valladares Archaga also illegally immigrated from Honduras, entering near Calexico, California, sometime in 2022. On July 17, 2025, Nassau County police arrested and charged him with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and driving without a license.
All three remain in Nassau County police custody.
ICE’s announcement did not clarify whether the individuals had self-identified as MS-13 members or if they have only been accused of affiliation.
An ICE spokesperson also told The New York Post that over 1,600 “criminal aliens” have been taken off the streets in Long Island.
