In what can only be seen as one of the most hilarious trends in the history of sports, the practice of throwing colorful sex toys onto the court during WNBA basketball games has elicited a response from a coach in the league.
Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve finds no humor in the hilarious practice, likening it to “the sexualization of women,” and is calling for those involved to “be held accountable.”
“This has been going on for centuries — the sexualization of women,” Reeve said. “This is the latest version of that. And it is not funny, and it should not be the butt of jokes on any radio show, or in print, or in any comments.”
“The sexualization of women is what is used to hold women down. And this is no different,” she added. “These people that are doing this should be held accountable. We’re not the butt of the joke. They are the problem and we need to take action.”

Don Trump Jr. didn’t get the memo, it seems, because he shared on Instagram a photo depicting his famous father, President Donald J. Trump, tossing a green dildo onto the court of a WNBA game from the roof of the White House.
He added, “Posted without further comment. ”

One could argue that the WNBA brought this on itself. In a league where about a third of the players are publicly out as lesbians, the treatment of superstar rookie Caitlin Clark has soured many on the heavily promoted league — Clark proves to be the golden goose that keeps getting squeezed, despite bringing desperately needed notoriety to the WNBA.
Clark, who is straight, has endured over-the-top physical play, injuries, and potentially mental strain since coming into the league — the phenom missed her ninth consecutive game on Thursday after re-aggravating a groin injury.
In fact, Stephen A. Smith suggested support for a federal investigation into the WNBA for the treatment of Clark.
“I’m not here saying the case will be won by the government if it gets to the points. I’m saying they have a case, they have an argument,” Smith said this week on his show.
Smith spoke about the possibility of President Donald Trump taking up the cause.
“Do we doubt that at his discretion, at his disposal, if he finds this to be an issue that’s politically expedient to him,” Smith said, “that Trump won’t use this to feed his base? If [Clark] is seen to be physically getting abused on the basketball court in a way that is such a clear and flagrant discrepancy compared to what happens to others, that that man is not going to say something?”
