AG Paxton Took Initial Step to Fire Dozens of Leftist Lawmakers Who Fled the State

There are people who believe they can collect a taxpayer-funded paycheck while not fully performing all aspects of the job they swore to perform.

And when they become disgruntled with policy changes, they refuse to show up to the job site.

However, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is prepared to address this dereliction. He is now asking judges to declare these seats empty. His logic is straightforward—if you abandon your job, you have quit your job.

‘Democrats have abandoned their offices by fleeing Texas, and a failure to respond to a call of the House constitutes a dereliction of their duty as elected officials,’ Paxton explained. ‘Starting Friday, any rogue lawmakers refusing to return to the House will be held accountable for vacating their office. The people of Texas elected lawmakers, not jet-setting runaways looking for headlines. If you don’t show up to work, you get fired.’

These members of the communist/globalist crime syndicate are already facing arrest warrants. State troopers are out looking for them. They are being levied $500 fines every single day they are gone. And they cannot use campaign money to pay those fines.

NOTE: Governor Greg Abbott has said if they try to use campaign cash anyway, he will charge them with bribery. Can you believe that? They run away from their jobs, and then they might try to get their donors to pay for it? That is taking advantage of We the People—even more so than they already have been doing.

Abbott’s not stopping there either. He said these members of the Left have basically quit their jobs. He wants to replace them right now. Some lawyers are saying he cannot do that on his own—he would need a judge to agree. But at least he is trying to hold them accountable.

NOTE: A representative is supposed to be the voice in government for his/her constituency. But 56 representatives said, “Nah, we’re out.” They left their constituents with nobody speaking for them. That is not okay despite however it is explained.

And this is not the first time the Texas Left has pulled this stunt. They did the exact same thing in 2021 when they did not like an election integrity bill.

Their playbook:

Can’t win a vote? Run away. Don’t like the rules? Break the system. Losing fair and square? Throw a tantrum and flee the state.

What kind of message does this send to We the People? That if you are a member of the Left, you can leave whenever you want? That oaths of office do not matter? That doing your job is optional if you do not like how a vote might go?
