Republicans have been on a winning streak. Executive actions grabbing headlines. Bold immigration ideas catching fire. Alligator Alcatraz setting off another media frenzy. Tulsi Gabbard is dismantling the Russia collusion hoax. It all feels like momentum heading into the Democrats 2026 midterms fight. But while we are reposting memes and high-fiving in the comments, the Democrats are in the hallway doing pushups or at least pretending to.
It’s easy to get caught up in our wins. Trump’s back, the left’s a mess, and momentum feels good. But we can’t afford to get too comfortable. It’s always easier for the opposition to fire up their base when they’re out of power. And right now, that’s the Democrats.
Yes, a lot of it looks ridiculous.
Just scroll through Eric Swalwell’s latest gym thirst trap if you need a laugh. A sitting congressman, sweating for democracy while benching 135 pounds and warning the nation about Trump like he’s doing a campaign ad for Planet Fitness.
I was proud of putting 135 lbs, too. When I was 14 and I weighed 110 lbs.

Or Jasmine Crockett cozying up to The Atlantic for a puff piece… until she got asked uncomfortable questions. Suddenly she tried to kill the whole story.
And then there’s Rashida Tlaib, making a video on purpose, banging a pot at the Capitol, claiming it was some kind of protest for Gaza. It looked more like a noise complaint waiting to happen than serious foreign policy.
Hank Johnson tried to take a jab at Trump with a guitar and missed every note, literally. What was meant to be a clever roast turned into a cringeworthy performance. It landed somewhere between a bad open mic night and a middle school talent show. Off-key, off-beat, and off the rails, which pretty much sums up the modern Democrat brand.
What This All Really Means
As Greg Gutfeld pointed out around the 10:15 mark, the left isn’t interested in persuasion. They are obsessed with power and performative outrage. He breaks it down perfectly.
But now? Is the party over for the Democrats?
Politics follows a pattern. You lose, you rebuild, you win. That has been the playbook for both parties for decades. But Democrats have exposed themselves in the process. They have mastered the rebuild phase by turning every loss into a self-righteous spectacle, revealing just how far they are willing to go to claw their way back into power.
And while it’s easy to laugh at the cringe, the truth is there’s a broader strategy in play. AOC spent the spring touring with Bernie Sanders, drawing big crowds and turning their “Fighting Oligarchy” message into a traveling revival show. She made socialism look cool because she is young, beautiful, and confident in front of a ring light. She sells socialism like it’s skincare, and the next generation is buying it.
That is why we cannot sit back and rely on our wins. We cannot meme our way to victory while they are out recruiting, fundraising, and firing up a base that actually shows up. If we get lazy, they will take it all back, and they will smile for the selfie while doing it.
Democrats know they are unpopular. They just do not care. Instead of fixing their image, they are banking on Trump’s governing style, healthcare cuts, and voter fatigue to help them flip just enough seats in 2026 to retake the House. To pull it off, they are recruiting outsider candidates, even ones willing to take shots at their own party. The strategy is not about winning hearts. It is about reading the room and manipulating it.
Although, to be fair, some Democrats can read a room like Joe Biden reads a teleprompter.
But, according to recent Democrat strategists, they believe Trump will drive moderates away while they quietly slip back into power.
Zoom in: In 2026, Democrats only need to win a handful of seats to take back the House majority. They also just successfully recruited former Gov. Roy Cooper to run for Senate in North Carolina, as Axios first reported.
Democrats believe they’re getting the right kinds of candidates in the House: people with little connection to D.C. who can run against both parties.
Midterms often favor the party out of power and Democrats have increasingly done better with college-educated voters who also tend to vote more often in non-presidential elections. – Axios
While Republicans are posting victories and dunking on Democrats online, the left is already rehearsing its comeback tour. Sure, it’s desperate. Sure, it’s cringey. But it’s happening. And we’d be foolish not to take it seriously.
If Republicans ignore the warning signs now, Democrats could flip the narrative and dominate the 2026 midterms before we even see it coming.
