The overseas wedding celebration of socialist New York City wannabe mayor Zohran Mamdani begged the question, “Trust fund socialism” or “Champagne socialism.”
Embodying hypocrisy, the leftist New York State assemblyman looking to occupy Gracie Mansion temporarily absconded from the Big Apple on a trip to his native land of Uganda. There, within the gated compound of his wealthy parents, Mamdani was said to have participated in a lavish party that ran contrary to his own calls to defund the police, as the event was said to have had “more than 20 special forces command unit guards” and cell phone jammers.
Having spoken with witnesses of the gathering in the Buziga Hill area outside the Uganda capital city of Kampala, the New York Post described the wedding celebration of the 33-year-old politician and his 27-year-old bride, artist Rama Duwaji, writing, “The home is set back from the road and sits on two acres of lush gardens surrounded by trees, has breathtaking, panoramic view of Lake Victoria and features at least three security gates.”
“This week, it was transformed into a party pad, with Christmas lights strung into the canopy of trees in the garden and music blaring, sources said. On Tuesday, buses, several Mercedes, and a Range Rover 4 were seen driving on the compound,” the outlet detailed, adding, “The gates of the bustling, private compound … were heavily guarded by military-style, masked men this week, with guests streaming in and partying until midnight …”
According to one witness, “Outside the Mamdani house were more than 20 special forces command unit guards, some in masks, and there was a phone-jamming system set up — and all for the strictly invite-only Mamdani event.”
“One gate had around nine guards stationed at it,” added the source.
Among those taking shots criticizing the “rules for thee, but not for me” display put on by Mamdani on the dime of his filmmaker mother, Mira Nair, and Columbia University professor father, Mahmood Mamdani, was disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) sounded off with a poll.
Still running for mayor despite losing the primary to Mamdani, Cuomo asked followers on X whether “Champagne socialism” or “Trust fund socialism” was the correct term to describe the assemblyman.
Correct term?

Likewise, incumbent Mayor Eric Adams (D), who is pursuing re-election as an Independent, took a shot at his rivals by reminding, “I was born here,” while indicating he was sticking around amid references to previous trips to Turkey over which he’d been investigated.

Meanwhile, others wondered at some of the reported specifics of Mamdani’s celebration, such as whether the security measures were implemented to keep him from being “outed as a wealthy hypocrite — living a life that he condemns for other New Yorkers,” as some simply suggested, “Commie gonna commie.”
Why not just have social workers at the door politely asking people if they’re not on the “guest list” to leave? I mean Police are not needed so why would “one@ need Armed Guards? In essence the same thing rt?

Both terms are correct. They are utilized by Zohran Mamdani’s Professional Global Fraud Factory.

And everyone thought he was just a down to Earth candidate, yall all got played. He will ruin NYC. Congratulations, comrade Mamdani, on his lavish lifestyle. Did he get married in America? Of course not.

This is Mamdani’s 3rd wedding celebration, 2nd in another country. Tell me you’re a millionaire without telling me you’re a millionaire.

I’d say I feel bad for the people of the city but if you elect this man, you get what you deserve
