Oregon State Representative and co-chair of the Joitn Transportation Committee, Susan McLain, said in the Oregonian, “Oregon has underfunded its transportation system for decades, and, as a consequence, the Oregon Department of Transportation now lacks the resources to fulfill its core mission of maintaining our roads, bridges and other infrastructure.”
Representative McLain says ODOT has been underfunded by decades. Apparently the 2017 $5.6 billion (10-year) road tax package does not count as adequate funding.
The Taxpayers Association of Oregon debunks the under-funding of ODOT.
• Oregon has the #10 highest state gas tax in the nation.
• The Oregon Gas tax was raised +5% just last year.
• Oregon has the nation’s only state wage (transit) tax.
• Oregon has the nation’s only state bike tax.
• Oregon Legislature approved I-5 bridge toll this year.
• $5.7B road taxes OK’d in 2017
This comes as weeks away the Governor has called lawmakers into a one-day Special Legislative Session to pass a huge gas tax and otehr taxes for ODOT.
Spread the truth and debunk this ODOT lie.
