Federal agents arrested a Delta Airlines pilot aboard his own aircraft Saturday night, stunning passengers who witnessed the dramatic takedown moments after landing in San Francisco.
The arrest occurred on Delta Flight 2809 around 9:35 p.m. as the plane from Minneapolis had just touched down and was preparing for passenger departure.
Approximately ten federal agents, including officers from Homeland Security Investigations, boarded the aircraft before any passengers could disembark.
The agents proceeded directly to the cockpit area, where they detained the co-pilot in full view of passengers.
Passenger Sarah Christianson described the scene to the San Francisco Chronicle, stating that “A group of people with badges, guns, and different agency vests/markings were pushing their way up through the aisle to the cockpit.”
The federal agents “stormed the cockpit, cuffed the co-pilot, arrested him, walked him down the aisle, and ushered him off the plane,” according to Christianson’s eyewitness account.
Following the pilot’s removal from the aircraft, a second group of agents returned to collect his personal belongings.
The remaining flight crew appeared completely unaware of the situation unfolding around them.
The other pilot informed passengers that he was equally confused by the arrest, according to Christianson’s observations.
Fox News reported that the charges against the pilot involve child sexual abuse material.
Homeland Security Investigations operates as a division within the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration (HSI) and Customs Enforcement agency.
HSI has participated extensively in immigration enforcement operations since President Trump initiated expanded immigration crackdowns.
Christianson characterized the incident as “shocking and unnerving” for all passengers aboard the flight.
“It was rage-inducing to see someone being disappeared right in front of me,” she told reporters.
HSI officials have not provided clarification regarding the specific reasons for the arrest or whether immigration status played any role in the case.
Delta Air Lines referred all inquiries about the incident to law enforcement agencies.
This arrest follows a pattern of workplace immigration enforcement actions that have occurred since the current administration’s policies took effect.
Recent months have seen federal agents conduct raids at various employment locations across the country.
Farms, factories and construction sites have all experienced midday enforcement operations resulting in worker arrests.
These workplace operations have typically resulted in employees being detained for potential deportation proceedings.
The dramatic nature of Saturday’s arrest, occurring in front of civilian passengers, marks an unusual public display of federal enforcement action.
Passengers remained aboard the aircraft throughout the entire arrest procedure before being allowed to deplane, according to New York Post reporting.
WATCH:
Resist the Mainstream reported last week that the Department of Justice (DOJ) dismissed a forensic accountant after discovering her husband developed an app that warns illegal immigrants of immigration enforcement activity.
The shocking move prompted concerns about the safety of federal agents.
Carolyn Feinstein, a former DOJ forensic accountant, confirmed she was terminated last Friday morning in an email from the department. Her husband, Joshua Aaron, is the creator of ICEBlock—an app criticized by federal officials for allegedly aiding illegal immigrants in avoiding arrest and placing officers in danger.
