If the Mazzaroth is God’s clock, what can we learn from its patterns and pictures? What is it telling us?
We learned it takes about 2100 years for the sun to move through one constellation into the next, with a few decades that it’s partly between the two or in both of them. Those decades when the sun is at the end of one constellation moving into the next is a transition between the ages.
[My prior article laid out the premise of this with additional resources at the end.]
Let’s look at the ones we know of so far…
Gemini, the twins
As the sun was moving out of Gemini, the creation of Adam and Eve was occurring. The Garden of Eden was their home, and Gemini was pointing across the sky at Sagittarius, the archer. Taking our cues from the ancient language and cultures, we know Sagittarius means “hitting the mark” and is symbolized with the archer. It’s like God was saying He hit the mark with the Creation and especially the creation of the twins, Adam and Eve.
Life on earth at that time was all about Adam and Eve. They were created to walk with their Maker in fellowship. There was harmony in the Garden. Life on earth at that time was as close to perfection as it was going to get. Adam and Eve were the prototype for humanity.
But there was some foreshadowing in the sky. Sagittarius’s bow was pointing at Scorpio (the serpent)…
Taurus, the bull
The sun made its way out of the twins and into the bull, Taurus. The Fall of Man happened during the transition between the two signs in the heavens. The serpent (Scorpio) had deceived the twins, and they had lost their Paradise. They were driven out of the Garden, and according to Genesis 6 and Enoch, the earth became a place of strong men that lived hundreds of years, and giants who had invaded the earth and challenged the authority of men.
The Bible speaks very little about this age, but Enoch covers it well. The giants (Nephilim) were the offspring of the Watchers (referenced in Daniel and discoursed in Enoch). The earth grew more and more violent, and probably did not at all resemble anything we’ve ever seen on the earth. The mixture of fallen gods/angels with humans produced the giants. The fallen ones taught all sorts of secret knowledge that corrupted humanity. (see Enoch 6-8) According to Enoch, the giants “consumed all the acquisitions of men. And when men could no longer sustain them, the giants turned against them and devoured mankind.”
Interestingly, Taurus sits opposite the sky from Scorpio. At the same time the strength of men was at its height, the corresponding sign of Scorpio was raging on the earth as well.
But God is always at work, and He will not be defeated…
We learn from Jasher that Abram was born in the days of Nimrod, (and most people know by now how powerful and wicked Nimrod was, and how the base of most occult and secret society doctrines can be traced back to Nimord and his days). Look at what happened the night Abram was born:
“And it was in the night that Abram was born, that all the servants of Terah, and all the wise men of Nimrod, and his conjurors came and ate and drank in the house of Terah, and they rejoiced with him on that night. And when all the wise men and conjurors went out from the house of Terah, they lifted up their eyes toward heaven that night to look at the stars, and they saw, and behold one very large star came from the east and ran in the heavens, and he swallowed up the four stars from the four sides of the heavens. And all the wise men of the king and his conjurors were astonished at the sight, and the sages understood this matter, and they knew its import. And they said to each other, “This only signifies the child that has been born to Terah this night, who will grow up and be fruitful, and multiply, and possess all the earth, he and his children forever, and he and his seed will slay great kings, and inherit their lands.” [Jasher 8:1-4]
There probably wasn’t any light pollution then. They were able to see the night sky in its fullness, and they knew there were things to be learned by it. There was a sign in the sky the night Abram was born, and they read the sign to mean Nimrod’s rule (and succeeding rulers) would be challenged.
[While I’d love to develop this part further, I’m doing a general overview right now and cannot.]
So what we have is an age of strength… strength of man and giants. At the end of that age (last few hundred years), the Flood occurred. Roughly two hundred years after the flood, Nimrod was born and reigned subsequently. In that transition period when the sun was moving out of Taurus and into Aries (remember that’s a long process of decades, up to a hundred years), Abram was born. Not only was Abram born, but he was born with some celestial pomp and circumstance.
Aries, the Ram
So Abram’s birth occurred at the end of Taurus. The Flood was at the end of Taurus. Something was changing…
The Tower of Babel was erected about three hundred years after the Flood (Nimrod was presiding), and within a few years of Abram’s birth. Despite all evidence that the majority of the earth had returned to their rebellion to God, God did not destroy the earth. He had another plan, and instead confused their scheme. As Taurus drew to a close, the new age of Aries was bringing some changes.
Aries is the ram, the sacrifice. The sacrifice, the giving up of the innocent for the guilty was established in this era. Abraham laid out sacrifices when God established His covenant with him. (Gen. 15) Later Abraham was called by God to sacrifice his son, Isaac, which he walked out in obedience. (Gen. 22) What a tremendous foreshadowing of Christ! But the angel stopped Abraham and provided what for that sacrifice? Ah yes, a ram whose horns were caught in a thorn bush.
Abraham’s son and grandson carried the covenant forward, with the twelve great-grandson’s of Abraham ultimately being the foundation for the soon to come nation of Israel. Israel was formed at the Exodus, when Moses led them out from Egypt and handed them the Mosaic Law.
In the celestial sky Aries points to Libra, the scales, the depiction of the rule of law and justice. From the time of the Mosaic Law until the closing of that age, this era would be defined by a sacrificial system within a system of moral and civil laws.
Daniel expounds on the coming end of the age, which modern Christianity mistakenly points to still in the future. The very last line in Daniel is this, “But as for you, go your way to the end; then you will enter into rest and rise again for your allotted portion at the end of the age.”
And at the end of that Aries age, a baby was born, miraculously…
Pisces, the fishes
That baby would navigate the end of the Aries age and the start of the Pisces age, the age of fish. He would employ fishermen, and multiply fish and loaves, and get money out of the mouth of a fish. And then He would be the ultimate sacrifice to end an obsolete sacrificial system, and He would send the Spirit of God to write His law on the hearts of His people. His people would move away from temple sacrifices into the fullness of the completed work of Christ in His death and resurrection.
The followers of Christ would come to be known by the sign of the fish.
Pisces in the celestial skies points to Virgo, the virgin…the Bride. Christ would instill the sacrament of communion as an act of promise for the Bride, His people, in parallel fashion with the ancient Israeli custom of betrothal.
Transitions between ages
Christ painstakingly explained to his followers that old wine skins cannot receive new wine, and new wine skins cannot receive old wine. He boldly told the religious if they destroyed the temple, it would be raised again in three days. A change was coming. But they wanted a military hero so they were having trouble seeing.
They were worried about the land and the city. He was pointing them to an eternal home and a new city. In the Olivet discourse, He painstakingly laid out the end of the Pisces age and its destruction with the complete destruction of Jerusalem. (People are still trying to put that off into the future. I used to do that as well.)
Every age had a transition into the next age, and the definition of the new age was not much like the prior age. While themes carried over, details changed. Each age was more progressed in its processes. At the risk of sounding new age-ish, there were ascensions in the spiritual realm, less emphasis on the flesh and blood part of humanity, more emphasis on the spiritual principles of God’s kingdom.
Christopher Carter pointed out in his book Cosmic Shift, the transition period between ages is awkward. Setting up a set of laws and a sacrificial system was new to the people from the Taurus age. Might was right in the Taurus age. If your strength could get it, it was yours. Strength produced kings who wielded over their subjects until someone stronger could usurp them. A system of laws under a moral code was new. The Israelites were uncomfortable with this new system Moses was leading them into. They clutched at Aaron to return to ways more familiar, threw in their gold jewelry and out came what? A golden calf. (young bull) Yes, transitions are awkward, uncomfortable.
Even the disciples struggled wrapping their heads around this new era Christ was leading them to. They didn’t realize His crucifixion was the ultimate sacrifice to end the sacrificial system. Even when Christ gave them His departing instructions, it didn’t look like anything from the Aries age: Go. Teach. Baptize.
The Pisces age moved from kings of Israel and Judah with Levitical priests, to His believers being a “royal priesthood” (1Peter 2:9), and “a kingdom of priests” (Rev. 1:6, 5:10, 20:6). In Christ’s commission to go into all the world and teach all nations, He moved the message from a set of (national) boundaries to ALL of Creation. The disciples struggled trying to pour the new wine into the old wine skins. People kept talking about circumcision and diet and days of the week and how to keep the Mosaic law. God had to give Peter a vision of killing and eating. He had to blind Paul and call him specifically to the Gentiles. [Read Acts 15 to catch a good overview.] No, the transition from Aries to Pisces was fraught with awkwardness, misunderstanding, and resistance.
Even today, there is a group of people who insist Paul isn’t a true apostle, that he didn’t walk out the apostolic creed, that he was leading people away from the law. If people are still resisting the age of Pisces and insisting on the age of Aries at the cusp of the age of Aquarius, I don’t think we can expect the next transition to be any different. It’s like the Israelites shirking from the age of Aries and wanting the familiar Taurus. Each transition has been a struggle for the people of God to let go of the old to take hold of the new.
It’s reminiscent of what Isaiah (43:18-19) called the people of God to do:
Do not call to mind the former things,
Or ponder things of the past.
Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
Transitions are messy. The current age doesn’t recognize the new age, and they try to drag into the new age the things of the old. (Would you be more comfortable if I called it the new eon? I know there’s a negative connotation with “new age”, but I’m looking at the language of the Bible, not the vernacular of the pagan system.)
The Transition into Aquarius is upon us
What will that look like? What is God saying about His expression on the earth?
Water poured out…
pointing to the King…
spelled out in the celestial heavens…
Jesus is the living water…
Jesus is the rightful King…
Current events look messy. There’s a shift going on. Can you feel it? Can you sense it? Can you see signs of it? Let’s start asking God what we’re supposed to understand, what He’s doing or saying. Let’s look at clues from His Word. Start with passages about water.
John 7:37-39
Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, ” If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive…
John 4:13-14
“Everyone who drinks of this water [from the earth] will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
1 John 5:5-9
Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.
Rev 22:17
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.
The water is being poured out. It’s pointing to the King. Let’s press in to align with God’s purposes. Let’s not make the mistake of prior peoples who missed the transitions and clung to the old age. Let’s discover what we’re supposed to understand so we can move with what God’s doing.
Every transition period ended in wide-spread upheaval. The Fall ended the Gemini age. The Flood was at the end of the Taurus age. Christ’s birth was at the end of the Aries age. These events transformed the landscape of earth and civilization. I assume there will be an upheaval for this new era as well. Current events indicate there will be. Let’s seek God so we can be used of Him for His purposes. The enemy will be active more than ever to thwart what God is doing, and God’s people are often waylaid and deceived by what the enemy is doing. Let’s be children of the King and rightly reflect our Creator’s heart as the seasons change.
