Cornyn’s Campaign Edited 2019 Trump Rally Clip to Fabricate 2025 Endorsement
Senator John Cornyn’s Trump rally audio manipulation is now at the center of a political firestorm in Texas. The embattled incumbent is facing accusations of deliberately editing footage from a 2019 Trump rally to mislead Texas voters into believing he has President Donald Trump’s endorsement in a campaign ad for the 2026 Republican Senate primary.
As exclusively exposed by investigative journalist Laura Loomer, Cornyn’s campaign aired a TV ad featuring manipulated Trump rally audio that omits other names and alters phrasing to falsely imply Trump singled out Cornyn for praise. The deception comes as Cornyn, a frequent critic of Trump and the America First movement, struggles to gain support against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Moreover, this bombshell comes after Loomer recently exposed the Senator’s daughter for lobbying for CCP-linked Alibaba as Attorney General Ken Paxton is investigating the company for violating the privacy rights of Texans.

Pro-Cornyn Super PAC “Clipped the S” to Fake Endorsement
Cornyn is polling 20 points behind Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. In a desperate move, his campaign aired a TV ad deceptively editing President Donald Trump’s voice to suggest a 2025 endorsement.
The ad, which began airing on Texas television stations on July 16, 2025, uses doctored footage from a February 11, 2019 Trump rally in El Paso. In the original video, President Trump praised multiple Texas senators, including Ted Cruz. However, as Loomer exclusively reported, Cornyn’s campaign team removed the plural “senators” and edited out other names, such as Cruz, to make it seem as if Trump was singularly praising Cornyn.
“He took out the mention of @tedcruz and edited the audio to hide the mention of other Senators in a video clip from 6 YEARS AGO,” Loomer wrote on X.
Campaign Relies on 6-Year-Old Footage Due to Lack of MAGA Support
The decision to manipulate a Trump rally audio clip from 2019 underscores the disconnect between Cornyn and the pro-Trump base. Loomer pointed out that there is no recent audio clip or footage of President Trump—or anyone in MAGA leadership—praising Cornyn within the last six years. That’s because, as she put it, Cornyn is a “RINO,” or Republican In Name Only, and widely distrusted by the America First movement.

In May 2023, Cornyn himself publicly stated that Donald Trump’s “time has passed,” casting doubt on Trump’s 2024 candidacy. He was also among the first Senate Republicans to push the party to move on from Trump after January 6, and has repeatedly criticized Trump’s base of supporters.

“What a loser! We are going to force John Cornyn to retire from the US Senate this year,” Loomer added.
Daily Mail and Conservative Talk Radio Amplify Scandal
Following Loomer’s bombshell scoop, the Daily Mail ran a feature confirming that the pro-Cornyn super PAC “Texans for a Conservative Majority” clipped the “s” from “Senators” in Trump’s 2019 remarks to fabricate the illusion of a personal endorsement.
Kenny Webster Amplifies Laura Loomer’s Cornyn Exposé
Texas radio host Kenny Webster of Walton & Johnson, the largest conservative morning radio show in the Gulf region, also amplified Loomer’s investigation.
On July 16, Webster declared on-air:
“@LauraLoomer exposed @JohnCornyn for manipulating audio clip of Trump in his latest statewide TV ad campaign. The ad makes it sound like the President endorsed John, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.”
Cornyn Communications Director Tied to Escort Allegation
As Cornyn’s manipulated ad scandal spirals, his communications director, Matt Mackowiak, is now facing separate allegations of misconduct. According to a report in the Dallas Express, conservative activists, including investigative journalist Laura Loomer accused Mackowiak of paying a Florida sex worker, further tarnishing Cornyn’s Senate operation.
Senator John Cornyn’s Trump rally audio deception is now dominating headlines, with conservative radio, investigative journalists, and Republican voters calling for accountability. Moreover, Loomer’s reporting has sparked a firestorm among Texas GOP primary voters. In fact, voters are now questioning Cornyn’s ethics, credibility, and loyalty to President Trump.
