Kristin Cabot, the former chief people officer of the data and AI startup Astronomer, resigned from the company on Thursday.
Her resignation followed a public scandal that erupted after she was captured on the stadium’s “kiss cam” with Astronomer CEO Andy Byron during a Coldplay concert in Massachusetts.
A spokesperson for Astronomer confirmed Cabot’s resignation in a statement to the New York Post. “I can confirm that Kristin Cabot is no longer with Astronomer.”
“She has resigned.”
The resignation comes less than a week after Byron stepped down from his role as CEO following the public release of the concert footage.
The incident took place last Wednesday at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, just outside Boston, during Coldplay’s live show.
Cabot and Byron were recorded by the stadium’s “kiss cam” embracing and reacting with apparent alarm as the camera zoomed in on them.
They quickly ducked out of frame in an effort to avoid being seen by the audience.
The moment drew the attention of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, who paused to acknowledge the scene unfolding on the stadium’s jumbotron.
“Oh, what?” Martin remarked, adding, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
The footage circulated rapidly online and was widely shared on social media platforms, generating millions of views.
It quickly became the subject of memes, parody videos and commentary across TikTok, Instagram, X and other outlets.
The viral nature of the clip turned the incident into a high-profile scandal, drawing public scrutiny toward both executives.
Additional footage from the concert showed the pair kissing, embracing and singing to each other during the performance.
At one point, they were seen standing arm-in-arm and swaying to the band’s 2000 hit “Yellow.”
Following the incident, both Byron and Cabot were placed on leave by Astronomer while a formal internal investigation into their conduct was initiated.
The company has not released the findings of that investigation as of Thursday.
Cabot joined Astronomer in November 2024 as chief people officer, a role overseeing human resources and personnel management.
Byron, who co-founded the company, served as CEO until his resignation over the weekend.
Neither Cabot nor Byron has issued a public statement about the incident or their resignations.
Both individuals are married to other partners.
Kristin Cabot is married to Andrew Cabot, who is the CEO of Privateer Rum.
Property records obtained by the Post show that the couple jointly purchased a New England-style, four-bedroom home for $2.2 million in February.
The house spans two stories and is located in the northeastern U.S.
Andy Byron is married to Megan Kerrigan Byron. The couple have two children together. There is no public information regarding either marriage’s current status following the recent events.
After Byron’s departure, Astronomer’s co-founder Pete DeJoy was appointed interim CEO.
DeJoy had previously served as the company’s chief product officer and is now overseeing leadership responsibilities in the wake of the executive shakeup.
DeJoy addressed the situation in a LinkedIn post on Monday, writing, “The spotlight has been unusual and surreal for our team, and while I would never have wished for it to happen like this, Astronomer is now a household name.”
He acknowledged the surge in attention resulting from the viral video and expressed a desire to move the company forward.
“The events of the past few days have received a level of media attention that few companies – let alone startups in our small corner of the data and AI world – ever encounter,” DeJoy added.
“At Astronomer we have never shied away from challenges.”
Astronomer is a New York-based startup that develops tools to help companies manage data workflows using Apache Airflow, a widely used open-source platform for data orchestration.
The Post noted that prior to the recent controversy, the company had a limited media footprint outside of technology and venture capital circles.
