The La Crosse Police Department in Wisconsin announced Wednesday that they found the body of Eliotte Heinz in the Mississippi River after she disappeared early Sunday morning.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Heinz, who attended Viterbo University in La Crosse, was last seen near the Mississippi River at around 3:22 a.m. on Sunday. Her missing person poster noted she had left Bronco’s Bar in La Crosse around 2:30 a.m. that morning.
On Wednesday, police discovered Heinz’s body in the Mississippi River near Brownsville, Minnesota, FOX News Digital reports.
“This was not the outcome we had hoped for throughout this search. Our thoughts are with Eliotte’s family, friends and all those who knew Eliotte. We are grateful for the outpouring of support from so many within the La Crosse community, the State of Wisconsin and nationally to locate Eliotte,” police said Wednesday.
Investigators are waiting on autopsy results for an official cause of death.
