Hunter Biden is again dominating headlines, revealing that there was indeed drug use in the White House during his father’s administration, it just wasn’t all done by the former first son.
In a recent interview, the former president’s son suggested that dear old dad — former President Joe Biden — might have Ambien to thank, at least in part, for some of his more disastrous public remarks, as the Daily Caller reported.
The younger Biden’s observations came during a Channel 5 interview with Andrew Callaghan.
During the interview, Hunter Biden spoke to subjects ranging from his own drug use to a behind-the-scenes look at what it was like for his father in the waning days of his 2024 re-election bid.
From Hunter’s mouth
The former first son said that Joe Biden took Ambien before his “absolutely horrible debate” performance against then-candidate Trump in 2024.
“I know exactly what happened in that debate. He flew around the world, basically at the mileage that he could have flown around the world three times,” Hunter said.
He continued, “He’s 81 years old. He’s tired as shit. They give him Ambien to be able to sleep.”
The former first son went on, “He gets up on the stage, and he looks like he’s a deer in the headlights.”
Hunter added that it was his opinion that his father’s debate performance quickly fed the rumor mill, saying that his garbled delivery on the stage “[fed] into every f—ing story that anybody wants to tell.”
Ambien-induced debate collapse?
For those not as familiar with pharmaceuticals as our former Oval Office occupant, Ambien is a sedative-hypnotic drug prescribed as a short-term treatment for insomnia.
The Food and Drug Administration says that the use of Ambien can result in “abnormal thinking and behavioral changes,” including “aggressiveness and extroversion that seemed out of character.”
The day before the 2024 debate, the Biden campaign was questioned about potential plans to use performance-enhancing drugs.
However, though staffers at the time avoided answering the question put to them by reporters, Hunter Biden has now, apparently, come clean.
