White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller delivered a fiery rebuke Monday after House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries criticized the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement tactics.Â
Jeffries, speaking earlier that day, accused the administration of targeting nonviolent illegal immigrants at community locations and urged officials to focus on removing violent criminals instead.
Miller, appearing on “The Ingraham Angle” on Fox News, called Jeffries’ comments outrageous and charged Democrats with enabling the mass entry of dangerous individuals into the country.
“Can you imagine getting a lecture on public safety from the party that has let child rapists and murderers into this country en masse!?” Miller said. “They gleefully allowed these people into our nation—do you have any idea how many little girls have been maimed, raped, or killed because of their policies?”
Miller pointed directly to Democrat-led sanctuary city policies as a primary cause of crime and suffering, stating they protect individuals who should have been deported long ago.Â
“They have destroyed the lives of countless thousands of Americans,” he added.Â
“And today, Democrats run sanctuary cities that protect and shield illegal aliens who have committed the most heinous crimes from deportation.”
He referenced a recent attack in New York City, where two illegal immigrants allegedly assaulted an off-duty Border Patrol agent, as The Daily Caller reports.Â
Both suspects had previously been arrested and released, Miller said, citing it as proof that Democratic leadership prioritizes political agendas over safety.
“Their policies are evil! They are intentional,” Miller declared. “They are malicious. They hate this country and they want our people to suffer. And they have turned migration into a weapon.”
Miller also defended the use of targeted ICE and Border Patrol raids, which he claimed uncover the worst abuses and offenders.Â
“And when ICE and Border Patrol conduct raids, what do they find?” he said. “Trafficked and enslaved children. “They find offenders with rap sheets that go from here to the other side of the country — state after state, a trail of blood and suffering.”
“And ICE and Border Patrol are getting these monsters out of our country, getting these predators out of our communities.”
He credited President Donald Trump’s leadership for a decline in violent crime.Â
“Under President Trump’s leadership, murder rates are finally falling because these people are being sent home,” Miller said.
Tom Homan, President Trump’s border czar, echoed Miller’s condemnation of sanctuary cities during a press conference in New York.Â
“Sanctuary cities are sanctuaries for criminals,” Homan said. “President Trump is not going to tolerate it. And I’ll work every day with [DHS] Secretary [Kristi] Noem to make sure we get as many bad guys—illegal aliens—out of this country that we can.”
Recent data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection underscores a sharp change in enforcement between the Trump and Biden administrations.Â
In May and June 2025, Border Patrol released zero illegal immigrants into the country’s interior.Â
By contrast, under former President Joe Biden’s administration, 62,000 illegal immigrants were released in May 2024, followed by another 27,766 in June.
