Well, here’s one take why the pro-abortion-to-the-core Democrat party lost last November:
Hunter Biden, in his first interview since the 2024 election, denied there was a “grand conspiracy” to cover up issues with his father’s health and said Democrats only lost the race because they abandoned President Joe Biden.
“We lost the last election because we did not remain loyal to the leader of the party,” Hunter Biden said on a new podcast hosted by Jaime Harrison, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee. “That’s my position. We had the advantage of incumbency, we had the advantage of an incredibly successful administration, and the Democratic Party literally melted down.”
Harrison’s podcast “At Our Table” debuted last Thursday and excerpts from his interview with Hunter Biden were released the day before. Hunter may be the lone figure in the galaxy that still holds to that position.

Today is the one-year anniversary of former President Biden not unexpected but shocking anyway announcement that he was withdrawing from the presidential race. Moments later in a prepared statement he endorsed his rabidly pro-abortion Vice President Kamala Harris to be the party’s nominee. “Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this,” the statement continued.
His withdrawal was inevitable, although Biden had to be shoved out. The turning point, of course, was the June 27, 2024, presidential debate which “sparked widespread panic among Democrats and almost immediately spurred calls from political pundits, editorial writers and some party donors for Biden to step aside as the party’s 2024 standard-bearer,” according to Brooke Singman of Fox News.
Once Biden withdrew, presidential candidate Harris went down to ignominious defeat to President Trump three months later. The best defense of her awful campaign was if Biden had dropped out earlier, Harris perhaps would have had time to persuade the public, a highly dubious scenario. Making things worse is that subsequently Joe Biden insists on trying to be a player. Given the barrage of books documenting his extreme mental decline during his term in office, his drag on the party is made even worse because his every speech documents how accurate those accounts are.
For Democrats much of the last year, certainly since President Trump defeated Harris, has been a total disaster. “A CNN poll released Thursday found only 28 percent of surveyed Americans view the party favorably, a record low in the history of the outlet’s polling dating back to 1992,” Jared Gans writes for The Hill. “Only 19 percent of respondents to a new Quinnipiac University poll approve of the way Democrats in Congress are doing their job.”
And, as everyone knows, Democrats are in a hellacious civil war over the direction of the party. The party, already very liberal by any traditional standards, is being pushed further and further Left. Democratic Socialists won the primaries in New York City and Minneapolis, my beloved hometown. The energy is clearly with the younger left set, as was demonstrated yet again over the weekend in Minneapolis.
“We might as well have it out — that ideological brawl that has been brewing for some time at City Hall,” writes Eric Roper for the Star-Tribune. Mayor Jacob Frey pulled his supporters after a highly dubious first ballot, done electronically and using ranked choice.
“Darwin Forsyth, Frey’s campaign spokesperson, said they didn’t pull their supporters to deny quorum. He said their supporters were starting to leave and they didn’t want to legitimize the results of the second ballot — given their mistrust of the first one.”
