A memo, originally dated in 2016 and circulated to then-President Barack Obama, indicated that neither Russian operatives nor cyber actors had succeeded in compromising U.S. election infrastructure. While referencing minor incidents such as the reported targeting of Illinois voter data and other failed intrusion attempts, the document concluded that none of those efforts had reached systems responsible for casting or tallying votes.

Discussions are reportedly underway within federal law enforcement regarding potential criminal exposure for former CIA Director John Brennan, ex-FBI Director James Comey, and other high-ranking figures who played central roles in advancing the Crossfire Hurricane investigation.
