(NewsNation) — The local bomb squad has arrived on the scene of an explosion in Los Angeles that killed at least three people Friday morning.
A source told NewsNation affiliate KTLA that the three involved were sheriff’s deputies.
The explosion occurred around 7:30 a.m. local time at an address associated with a Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s training facility.
The FBI was en route to the scene Friday morning, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom had been briefed on the incident.
Attorney General Pam Bondi said she had spoken to the U.S. attorney for the Central District of California.
“Our federal agents are at the scene and we are working to learn more. Please pray for the families of the sheriff’s deputies killed,” she said on social media.
Former FBI agent Dennis Frank told NewsNation he knows of trainees losing fingers in explosives training, which could be one potential cause for the blast.
