President Donald Trump announced Thursday his intention to direct Attorney General Pam Bondi to release grand jury testimony related to Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes.
This comes in response to a Wall Street Journal report that published what the newspaper claims is a salacious birthday card Trump sent to the disgraced financier in 2003.
The Journal report featured an alleged birthday card containing the outline of a naked woman with pubic hair drawn near a signature reading “Donald.”Â
The typewritten message reportedly stated: “Happy Birthday – and may every day be another wonderful secret.”
Trump categorically denied writing the letter and threatened legal action against the newspaper and its owner Rupert Murdoch.Â
He characterized the document as fabricated and inconsistent with his communication style.
The president pledged to release “any and all” grand jury testimony about Epstein’s crimes, framing the decision as a response to what he termed the “Epstein hoax” perpetuated by Democrats and media outlets.
Trump’s announcement has reinvigorated MAGA supporters who had previously criticized him and Bondi for failing to fulfill campaign promises regarding Epstein’s client list.Â
The criticism had grown so intense that Trump stated he “doesn’t want their support anymore,” calling critics “weaklings” who had fallen for Democratic lies.
Riley Gaines, who had slammed Trump earlier this week, reversed course and praised his decision on the grand jury testimony.Â
“This is fantastic news. I imagine the democrats will be eating their words,” Gaines wrote.
Donald Trump Jr. shared his father’s announcement on social media, writing “LFG,” which stands for “let’s f***ing go.”Â
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who had been critical of Trump’s handling of the Epstein matter, celebrated the change in direction.
“This is the right course of action. Thank you Pam Bondi and President Donald Trump,” Greene stated.Â
“If President Trump was guilty of anything regarding Jeffrey Epstein, Democrats would have used it against him the past 4 years… Democrats, spare us your fake outrage.”
Charlie Kirk, who had earlier declared he was “done talking about Epstein,” shared Trump Jr.’s post and wrote: “Major move. Let’s go!”Â
Benny Johnson described Trump’s announcement as a “victory” for MAGA supporters seeking answers about the Epstein files.
Attorney General Pam Bondi responded immediately to Trump’s directive, stating: “President Trump – we are ready to move the court tomorrow to unseal the grand jury transcripts.”
Critics argue that grand jury testimony represents only a small portion of available Epstein-related files.Â
Many question whether this represents genuine transparency or merely a tactical maneuver to deflect criticism.
Elon Musk had previously suggested Trump was hesitating to release files “because he’s in them,” though he later removed those comments and apologized.Â
Musk had unfollowed Bondi on social media and described her comments on Epstein as “the final straw.” However, Musk questioned the authenticity of the Wall Street Journal’s letter on Thursday, writing: “Yeah, the letter sounds bogus.”
Both Trump and Bondi face mounting pressure from MAGA loyalists over their handling of Epstein-related disclosures.Â
In February, Bondi shared binders labeled “Phase 1” of the Epstein release with MAGA influencers, but the folders contained previously published information.
Bondi had assured the public that the client list was “on her desk to be reviewed,” suggesting more revelations would follow.Â
Last week, she backtracked and insisted the highly sought client list “doesn’t exist.”
The Wall Street Journal report claimed Trump participated in Epstein’s birthday album by sending well wishes along with the controversial message.Â
The naked woman appeared to have been drawn with a marker, with arcs indicating breasts and a squiggly signature reading “Donald” in the pubic region, per the Journal.
“This is not me,” Trump said in a denial published within the WSJ story.Â
“This is a fake thing. It’s a fake Wall Street Journal story. I never wrote a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women. It’s not my language. It’s not my words.”
The alleged letter reportedly contained an imaginary conversation between Epstein and Trump written in third person.Â
In the conversation, “Donald” writes: “We have certain things in common, Jeffrey,” to which “Jeffrey” replies: “Yes we do, come to think of it.”
Trump claimed he spoke directly with Wall Street Journal editor Emma Tucker and Murdoch about the letter’s contents.Â
He stated both were warned the letter was fake and that publication would result in legal action.
“Mr. Murdoch stated that he would take care of it but, obviously, did not have the power to do so,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump alleged that Tucker “did not want to hear” from White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt that the “letter was a FAKE.”Â
The Daily Mail outlined that he announced intentions to sue The Wall Street Journal, NewsCorp and Murdoch.
The president characterized the Epstein saga as a “hoax” perpetuated by Democrats, arguing that if he were involved in anything scandalous, it would have been released by “Comey, Brennan, Crooked Hillary and other Radical Left Lunatics years ago.”
Trump concluded by stating he “looks forward to suing and holding accountable the once great Wall Street Journal,” calling it a “Disgusting and Filthy Rag” that shows “desperation to remain relevant.”
