When Congress passed a new law defunding the Planned Parenthood abortion business, the massive American abortion chain was the main point of discussion because it is the one most people know.
However, the defunding bill also defunded another abortion company as well, located in Maine, because it meets the financial threshold to qualify for defunding.
Maine Family Planning was also defunded because the law includes all abortion businesses that received more than $800,000 from Medicaid in 2023.

Although the group bills itself as a legitimate medical provider pregnancy testing, contraception, family planning counseling, breast exams, cancer screenings and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, it killed 645 babies in abortions in 2024. As a result, the new law defund MFP because it engage sin killing babies along with legit medical care.
As a result of the defunding, Maine Family Planning is now filing a lawsuit against the new law.
Vanessa Shields-Haas, a nurse practitioner, said the organization’s clinics have been seeing all patients as usual and completing Medicaid paperwork for visits — but not submitting it because it appears the provision took effect as soon as the law was signed.
“Knowing how hard it is to access care in this state, not allowing these community members to access their care, it’s cruel,” Shields-Haas said.
Maine Family Planning operates 18 clinics across the state.
If Maine Family Planning wanted federal taxpayer funds, the easy solution is for it to stop killing babies. That qwould re-qualify it for Medicaid funds. But its lawsuit proves MFP cares more about abortion that just providing true medical care.
