In the land of booming headlines and soda-pop diplomacy, President Trump proudly proclaimed on Truth Social this week that he’d been speaking to Coca-Cola about switching up their recipe.
President Trump posted on Truth Social: “I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so. I’d like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola. This will be a very good move by them – You’ll see. It’s just better!”
According to the AP, Coca-Cola made a statement saying the company appreciated Trump’s enthusiasm and promised that more details on new offerings within its products would be shared soon. That’s kind of a non-confirmation confirmation.
Meanwhile, corn refiners and Trump haters around the planet were not content to let sugar steal the spotlight – they warned that ditching high-fructose corn syrup would
cost American jobs and hit midwestern wallets hard. It’s probably going to usher in the end of democracy as well.
Still, the narrative is: sugar = natural, corn syrup = processed ickiness. High fructose corn syrup is generally considered bad for your health…and everyone (even Dems) has been saying this for DECADES! Mexico and Australia already use sugar instead of the syrup.
Starting in the 2000s, high fructose corn syrup began being linked to obesity, liver damage and more. But I’m sure now that Trump is trying to get rid of it, all of the liberal health websites will be taking down that information.
Trump’s latest move with Coca-Cola is tied to the MAHA movement (Make America Healthy Again) of Trump and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. which has recently scored some other wins including getting artificial colors out of ice cream. Now Trump is laser-focused on your soft drinks.
Remember the slogan, Coke, the real thing? Now it might be.
