In the face of devastating violence, one newborn baby has become a shining symbol of hope.
Baby Miracle was born just minutes after her mother, 19-year-old Tanyiah Bell, was fatally shot while eight months pregnant. The young mother had been joyfully preparing for her baby’s arrival with the help of her own mother, Tylicia Bell. But that future was stolen when Tanyiah’s boyfriend, Kaiheem Jerelle Williams, murdered her in cold blood just weeks before her due date.
Despite the heartbreaking loss, her miracle baby was born at the hospital.
“When they pulled her out, she was grey. They did CPR for 25 minutes, and they were able to get a heartbeat,” Miracle’s grandmother, Tylicia Bell, recalled.

Miracle was delivered just five minutes after Tanyiah arrived at the hospital. Weighing only four pounds and born under unimaginable circumstances, her survival alone is awe-inspiring, prompting her grandmother to name her Miracle.
“When I first set eyes on her in the NICU, I just knew that she’s her miracle,” Tylicia told ABC News, adding, “I knew that God left me something because I lost my only child.”
Though Miracle’s life was saved, her battle is far from over. Now eight months old, she weighs 19 pounds but continues to face serious health challenges. She has cerebral palsy, a tracheostomy tube for breathing, and is receiving ongoing care at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Yet despite it all, her grandmother holds onto unwavering faith.
“She may never be able to walk. She can’t blink. She can’t smile. She can’t react to us, but the doctors did say she has perfect eyes and perfect ears, so I know she sees the love, hears the love,” Tylicia shared, noting that Baby Miracle “looks just like” her daughter.
Now a full-time caregiver, Tylicia is raising her granddaughter while grieving the loss of her only child.
“I feel like I’m raising my daughter all over again,” she told the outlet. “I wish my daughter was here to see this, but I know she’s watching over us and is like, ‘Mom, you got this.’”
