House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has broken from many in his party, calling for the release of additional materials related to the late Jeffrey Epstein.
Johnson called for the Department of Justice to release the documents in what is seen as a rare moment of dissension between himself and the Trump administration, as the Daily Mail reported.
This comes after days of consistent outrage over President Donald Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi both saying that, essentially, there was nothing else to see regarding Epstein.
Epstein’s death was confirmed by the Bondi DOJ as a suicide, and she also said there was no client list to be made public, much to the dismay of conservatives who believe something is amiss.
Johnson’s comments emerge
“It’s a very delicate subject, but we should put everything out there and let the people decide it,” Johnson said during an interview with conservative podcaster Benny Johnson on Tuesday.
“I agree with the sentiment that we need to put it out there … We need the DoJ focusing on the major priorities. So let’s get this thing resolved,” the speaker added.
Bondi spoke on a different topic on the same day, saying, “We’re going to fight to keep America safe again.”
She continued, “We’re fighting together as a team. That’s what’s so important right now. We’ve got a war on drugs. We’ve got a war on human trafficking, we’ve got cartels in this country.”
Bondi further declared that “We have got foreign adversaries around this world as well, and we’re all going to work together as a team.”
Trump weighs in
Trump spoke out about the growing frustration on Truth Social, saying, “What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals?’ They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a fantastic job! We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening.”
The president said he thinks that some bad actors are going after what he called the “perfect administration” and are using Epstein to do it.
Trump went on, saying, “[FBI Director] Kash Patel, and the FBI, must be focused on investigating Voter Fraud, Political Corruption, ActBlue, The Rigged and Stolen Election of 2020, and arresting Thugs and Criminals, instead of spending month after month looking at nothing but the same old, radical left-inspired documents on Jeffrey Epstein. Let Pam Bondi do her job — she’s great!”
Likewise, Patel recently came out to assure voters that “conspiracy theories” surrounding the late Epstein were indeed just theories and “just aren’t true,” despite previous comments to the contrary.
