Ron DeSantis hit Democrats with one devastating truth about “Alligator Alcatraz”
Florida Democrats thought they had Ron DeSantis cornered.
They figured their latest stunt would embarrass the Governor on the national stage.
But Ron DeSantis hit Democrats with one devastating truth about “Alligator Alcatraz.”
Democrats launch desperate attack on Florida’s deportation facility
Florida’s controversial migrant detention center has become the latest battleground between Governor Ron DeSantis and his Democrat opponents.
The facility, nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz” by its critics, serves as a deportation processing center supporting President Trump’s massive immigration enforcement operation.
Five Democrat lawmakers tried to force their way into the facility last week, claiming they had the legal right to conduct surprise inspections.
When they were denied entry, the Democrats ran straight to the Florida Supreme Court with a lawsuit demanding access.
“The law is just clear. It’s clear,” Representative Michele Rayner from St. Petersburg said. “Folks are starting to call it a modern-day concentration camp, and you know I can’t say that I disagree with them.”¹
It’s the same tired playbook Democrats always use when they can’t get their way.
They throw around inflammatory terms like “concentration camp” to try and score cheap political points.
But Governor DeSantis wasn’t having any of it.
DeSantis demolishes Democrats’ frivolous lawsuit
DeSantis fired back at the Democrats’ legal stunt during a Friday press conference, calling their lawsuit exactly what it was – pure political theater.
“They’re misapplying statutes. They should be sanctioned by the court for abusing the legal system,” DeSantis declared. “They should seek sanctions in the defense and a judge should award sanctions against these guys. They’re posturing politically.”²
The Governor’s communications team didn’t mince words either, dismissing the Democrat lawsuit as “frivolous” and “dumb.”
DeSantis pointed out the obvious hypocrisy in the Democrats’ sudden concern for people who entered the country illegally.
“Democrats care more about illegal aliens than they do about American citizens,” DeSantis stated. “I’ve never seen Democrats fight this hard for American citizens.”³
That’s the brutal truth Democrats don’t want to hear.
They’ll move heaven and earth to protect illegal aliens while ignoring the struggles of law-abiding Americans.
The facility provides professional standards for deportation operations
DeSantis made it crystal clear that the Everglades detention facility serves one specific purpose – processing illegal aliens for removal from the United States.
“We did not create the Four Seasons. That’s not the intent of this,” DeSantis told Fox News. “It is a professional processing center to effectuate the deportation of illegal aliens. That’s what it’s for. It’s professionally run.”⁴
The Governor emphasized that the facility exceeds required standards and includes air conditioning, laundry services, clergy access, legal representation, and medical facilities.
Officials from Florida Emergency Management, the State Attorney General’s office, and the Trump Administration have all pushed back on claims of mistreatment.
They’ve noted that the facility maintains “higher standards than most prisons.”
DeSantis also revealed that detained individuals can still opt for voluntary return to their home countries.
“Even if they get brought to the front doorstep here, they still have an opportunity to just go back voluntarily,” DeSantis explained during a facility walk-through with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.⁵
Noem added that officials “will put them on a plane that day and buy their ticket and go home.”
Democrats manufacture outrage over mosquitoes and basic conditions
The desperation of the Democrat attack became clear when their main complaints focused on mosquitoes and heat in the Florida Everglades.
Fox News host Jesse Watters highlighted the absurdity of these criticisms during his interview with DeSantis.
“All the standards are a lot higher than what was even required,” DeSantis responded, emphasizing that this isn’t a luxury resort.
That’s exactly right.
These aren’t tourists on vacation – they’re people who violated American immigration law and are being processed for deportation.
DeSantis delivers on his promise to voters
The Governor touted getting the facility operational in just one week as “an amazing feat” that demonstrates his administration’s efficiency.
This rapid deployment shows what happens when you have leadership that’s serious about enforcing immigration law instead of making excuses.
DeSantis has consistently delivered on his promises to crack down on illegal immigration in Florida.
The Alligator Alcatraz facility represents the kind of decisive action that Florida voters demanded when they re-elected DeSantis in a landslide.
Democrats can file all the frivolous lawsuits they want, but it won’t change the fact that this facility is operating within the law to support federal deportation efforts.
The state has even agreed to provide a Saturday tour for lawmakers, which demonstrates their commitment to appropriate transparency.
But Democrats aren’t interested in transparency – they want to grandstand for their radical base that opposes any immigration enforcement.
DeSantis continues to show what real leadership looks like by putting the safety and security of American citizens first, despite the hysterical opposition from Democrats who care more about illegal aliens than their own constituents.
The Governor’s devastating response to this latest Democrat stunt proves once again why Florida leads the nation in common-sense conservative governance.
