The situation with Jeffrey Epstein has caused what is being described as a “MAGA civil war,” as it was revealed by President Donald Trump’s top law enforcement officials that there are no conspiracies behind the convicted sex trafficker’s death.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino all came under fire from MAGA circles after a leaked memo indicated that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and no “Epstein list” existed.
Infighting among agency heads, according to the Daily Mail, has reached a fever pitch. Bongino is reportedly insisting that Bondi hold a press conference to address the “failures” behind the shocking Epstein news.
Bondi, early on, had promised that she would eventually get to and release the Epstein files she had on her desk, only to later make the claim that no such files existed.
What’s happening?
Bongino, who took a fair amount of backlash for seemingly switching gears on the subject like the other two, was reportedly on the verge of leaving his post at the FBI as long as Bondi stayed in hers.
However, sources close to Bongino and the situation say that while he’s still working, he’s pushing for Bondi to hold a press conference to address the situation once and for all, with full transparency.
The focus of the press conference, according to the source, would be to shed light on the “discrepencies” of the Epstein saga — especially Bondi’s seeming reversal on the subject.
“While the Deputy Director has many significant operations underway that he finds very important to see through, he does plan to continue to fight for transparency and accountability for failures in the Epstein saga, including a press conference from the attorney general to explain discrepancies in communication directly to the American people,” a source close to Bongino said.
The Daily Mail reported:
Bongino is particularly irked by Bondi overselling what she had during the early stages of the Epstein investigation.
In February, the Attorney General invited MAGA influencers to the White House and gave them binders containing ‘a truckload’ of new details in ‘phase one’ of the release.
Upon closer inspection it was discovered the folders contained no new information.
After the memo leaked that indicated that Epstein likely died by suicide in jail and that no “list” existed, she also essentially closed the case, saying nobody else would be charged or arrested in connection.
Dems chime in
Now, a growing number of Democrats are demanding that more files, if they exist, be released to the public.
Some have even claimed that Trump, who has backed Bondi on the matter and downplayed the situation significantly, is ordering Bondi to also downplay it due to possible implications of his former connection with Epstein.
Clearly, the entire ordeal is a massive mess, and it’s causing unnecessary divisions within MAGA circles.
Only time will tell if any of Trump’s top officials leave their posts as a result of the situation.
