The contagion of Islamic Marxists being instilled into the leadership of big blue cities is spreading. Democrats in Minneapolis want to elect as mayor, Muslim socialist/communist Omar Fateh, whose goals directly reflect those of New York City’s Zohran Mamdani.

Another Muslim communist runs for mayor of a big, blue city
On Sunday, Fateh came out with a platform to freeze rent, rapidly raise the minimum wage, and a staunch refusal to work with ICE on detaining and deporting illegal immigrants. His rhetoric is yet another incitement to violence.
He is a member of the Minnesota Senate and the Minnesota Democratic Farmer-Labor Party (DFL), which is communist in nature. He is the first Somali American and Muslim to serve in the Minnesota Senate. Fateh was born in DC, but his parents are immigrants from Somalia. His sister-in-law is Minnesota State Senator Zaynab Mohamed.
Fateh is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) just like Mamdani. One wonders why he wants to take things down a notch and become the mayor of Minneapolis, unless, of course, it is part of a plan by DFL and DSA to install communists in positions of power. He has received endorsements from the Democratic Socialists of America, the Sunrise Movement, and the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party. He is also endorsed by SEIU, College Democrats, Our Revolution, CPUSA, and Take Action.

He’s anti-Trump, anti-police, pro-illegal immigrant, and pro-socialist
Fateh posted to X, asserting that he wants to “protect” Minneapolis from a “hostile White House,” increase the minimum wage by $20 by 2028, and prohibit the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) from “interacting” with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to the Daily Caller.
Alpha News reported, “Fateh supported a 2021 effort to replace the Minneapolis Police Department with a new ‘Department of Public Safety.’ That ballot amendment was rejected overwhelmingly by Minneapolis voters.”
He is also pushing fare-free public transit, comprehensive single-payer healthcare, doing away with the fossil fuel industry, banning evictions, and canceling rent, mortgage, and utility payments. Fateh wants to make his city a “safe-haven” for abortions and “gender-affirming care,” and he wants to institute a local option income tax to ensure the wealthy pay their fair share.” It’s all straight out of the socialist/communist playbook that has become the Democratic Party.

“Protecting all of our communities from Donald Trump means not letting MPD interact with ICE, whether it’s for an immigration raid or not. Our residents deserve a mayor who will stand up to Donald Trump and say, ‘no, not in our community,’” Fateh declared on X.

Fateh and Mamdani mirror each other, and it’s not a coincidence
Taking a page from Mamdani’s book, Fateh threatened to use his power as mayor to stop ICE from detaining and deporting illegal immigrants who are convicted or charged with heinous criminal acts. That vow earned Mamdani a warning from President Trump that he could be arrested for obstructing ICE.
Border czar Tom Homan has also warned that politicians and government officials who obstruct the duties of ICE could be prosecuted.

The Daily Caller reported:
Fateh claimed in his latest campaign video that 47% of calls to MPD can be “diverted to [a] non-police response” because officers are not social workers and cannot always provide the appropriate response. He called on passing “rent stabilization” to end so-called “price gouging,” and he has further introduced a plan to “prevent rental evictions” by implementing a Just Cause eviction policy, according to his website.
Fateh represents Minnesota’s 62nd Senate district, which includes south Minneapolis in Hennepin County.
“As a renter in Stevens Square with a full-time job on top of my part-time Senator job, and a baby on the way, I want to keep money in working people’s pockets and circulating in our local economy. That’s why I’ll work to implement a $20 minimum wage by 2028 & rent stabilization,” Fateh wrote on X, echoing leftists across the country.

That’s very close to what Mamdani is promising – he’s shooting for a minimum wage of $30 an hour and implementing government-run programs such as free grocery stores and buses.
Socialist Democrats make their move
Socialist Democrats across the country are emboldened by Mamdani’s primary win in New York City. Fateh is just one of many looking to embed themselves in positions of power and influence for DSA and the communists.
Moderate Democrat Dean Phillips, who is a former Minnesota congressman, is ringing alarm bells that Democrats doubling down on socialism could doom them in 2026.
“Democrats wishing to lose the ‘26 midterms should promote a 33 year-old socialist devoid of executive experience for mayor of America’s largest city and impeach a president who ended a tyrannical regime’s nuclear threat while achieving a cease fire days later,” he warned on X.

Phillips is referring to both Mamdani’s win and Democrats calling once again to impeach President Trump over Iran. His point is well-made, and Democrats should consider exactly who they are handing their party over to and maybe look up the definition of Marxism.
Fateh’s mayoral campaign is going to get strong push-back from business leaders, law enforcement advocates, moderate Democrats, conservatives, and the Trump administration. His opponent, Mayor Jacob Frey, is running for a third term.
