An MSNBC contributor suggested that illegal aliens who commit violence against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents could be within their rights if they believe that they’re acting in self-defense.
Democrats and their propagandists are furious that some ICE agents have begun to wear masks when carrying out deportation operations, a necessity to protect themselves from being doxxed, a method of digital terrorism that is regularly wielded by the political left.
During Saturday’s edition of “Velshi” on the troubled cable network, former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance explained that agents concealing their identities to prevent reprisals is “not normal” and a “danger sign,” and that illegals who become violent might be legally justified in doing so because they fear that they’re being kidnapped.

“When you’re masked like that and people don’t know who you are, someone might exercise their lawful right of self-defense to protect themselves, thinking they’re being kidnapped, ” Vance told the host. “So the notion that this is for law enforcement’s protection is utterly ludicrous. And we need to do away with that.”
“I think it’s important for us at this point to be very plain-speaking when we say that this is not normal, it’s not acceptable, and it’s a danger sign. You know, we are well past the point where we can just identify danger signs and say, oh, there might be problems down the road,” she continued. “The problems are here, they’re in the right now.”
“And as we see people being pulled off the streets — you know, the danger to law enforcement, quite frankly, is that when you’re masked like that and people don’t know who you are, someone might exercise their lawful right of self-defense to protect themselves, thinking they’re being kidnapped,” Vance said. “So the notion that this is for law enforcement’s protection is utterly ludicrous, and we need to do away with that.”
X users reacted to her spin, a shameless effort to wrap attacks on ICE in a cloak of legal protection.
Are they suggesting justifiable homicide?

Kidnapped? Baloney.
These officers are well marked on their uniforms what they are. If these illegals are being, ‘kidnapped’ why scream out ‘la Migra’? They know exactly who is arresting them.— Farm Girl Carrie (@FarmGirlCarrie) July 13, 2025
Is it just me, or are Democrats looking forward to an ICE agent getting hurt or even worse?

What a dipsh!t. ICE agents wear clothing that identifies them as ICE. Someone better not exercise a right to self-defense against a federal law enforcement agent or they’ll be facing a murder charge. This foolish cat lady knows better, which makes her dumb and dangerous.

Don’t recall the Marxist left cheerleading “the lawful right of self defense” before.

This type of nonsense is exactly the reason ICE agents are being assaulted.

ICE and other federal law enforcement agents have increasingly come under attack while conducting raids and executing warrants, including a pair of incidents last week when they were fired on by armed leftists. Democrats have tacitly sanctioned anti-ICE violence, and in Congress, some lawmakers are attempting to ban agents from protecting their identities.
Velshi earlier said that “We’re witnessing a police state taking shape before our eyes,” suggesting that soon ICE will shift to rounding up President Donald J. Trump’s political opposition, a paranoid conspiracy theory as sweet as mother’s milk to gullible MSNBC viewers.
