Border czar Tom Homan delivered a fiery speech at Turning Point USA’s Student Action Summit Saturday night in Tampa, Florida, firing back at protesters and vowing aggressive immigration enforcement.
Early in his speech, Homan was interrupted by a heckler who shouted, “Are you an MS-13 member?” referring to the Salvadoran gang targeted by the Trump administration’s deportation efforts. Security quickly removed the heckler from the venue.
Homan responded forcefully, saying the heckler “wouldn’t know what it’s like to serve this nation” and criticized him for lacking the courage to be an ICE or Border Patrol agent. He mocked the protester, saying, “This guy lives in his mother’s basement… Get out of here, you loser.”
The interruption seemed to energize Homan and the crowd, which chanted “U-S-A!” as he concluded his remarks. He promised to run “the biggest deportation operation this country has ever seen” and told protesters, “You want some? Come get some.”
Homan expressed strong support for the men and women of ICE, calling them “the finest 1% this country has” and demanding respect for their work. He said he would not back down or be silenced amid the growing protests against immigration enforcement.
He condemned what he described as “fake” stories pushed by Democrats and the media regarding ICE actions, especially after confrontations between agents and protesters in California.
Homan said those protesting ICE lack the courage to do the job of immigration enforcement themselves, emphasizing the dangerous nature of the work and the threats agents face daily, as Fox News reported.
Despite arriving at the summit expecting to face protesters, Homan said he was disappointed not to see any inside. However, demonstrators had gathered outside the event earlier in the day, holding signs against ICE and Trump’s immigration policies.
These demonstrations followed violent protests last month in Los Angeles, where clashes with federal officers turned into riots.
Federal immigration agents have faced increasing hostility since President Trump signed a new immigration reform bill into law last Friday. The law is aimed at strengthening border security and enhancing deportation efforts.
Since the bill’s passage, there have been ambush attacks on immigration officers in Texas and confrontations between protesters and agents at an ICE facility in Portland, Oregon.
Homan acknowledged the heated atmosphere surrounding immigration enforcement, stating he has never seen “such hate against the men and women of ICE and the Border Patrol.”
He praised President Trump’s leadership on immigration, declaring, “Under his leadership, we got the most secure border in the history of the nation, and we did that in seven weeks.”
Homan contrasted this with the previous administration, saying Trump achieved in seven weeks what Joe Biden could not or would not do in four years.
He warned protesters that ICE agents would not be intimidated and would continue carrying out their duties as ordered by the president.
Closing his speech, Homan apologized in advance for any profanity, telling the crowd, “Sometimes, I’m harsh. But if I offend anybody here tonight, I don’t give a s**t.”
