President Donald Trump voiced support for Attorney General Pam Bondi on Saturday amid backlash over her handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case files.
The statement came in response to reports that friction had erupted within the “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) ranks following a recent announcement from the Department of Justice.
On Friday, The Daily Wire reported that FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino had threatened to resign if Bondi remained attorney general.
The controversy followed the DOJ’s declaration that it found no evidence of Epstein possessing a client list, blackmailing powerful figures, or being murdered.
Trump responded on Truth Social, asking, “What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals?’”
He continued by defending Bondi, calling her work “FANTASTIC” and emphasizing that they were all on the same team.
“We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening,” Trump wrote. “We have a PERFECT Administration, THE TALK OF THE WORLD, and ‘selfish people’ are trying to hurt it, all over a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein.”
In another post, Trump reinforced his message: “LET PAM BONDI DO HER JOB — SHE’S GREAT!”
He tied Bondi’s role as attorney general to broader concerns about election integrity, writing, “The 2020 Election was Rigged and Stolen, and they tried to do the same thing in 2024 — That’s what she is looking into as AG, and much more.”
Trump further stated, “One year ago our Country was DEAD, now it’s the ‘HOTTEST’ Country anywhere in the World.”
He urged his followers not to focus on Epstein, saying, “Let’s keep it that way, and not waste Time and Energy on Jeffrey Epstein, somebody that nobody cares about.”
Bongino has not made any public statements in response to the DOJ findings or the internal tensions within the administration.
Sources told The Daily Wire that Bongino issued an ultimatum, indicating he would not remain at the FBI if Bondi continued in her role.
Trump did not name Bongino directly in his public remarks but appeared to reference the situation more broadly.
Meanwhile, FBI Director Kash Patel addressed speculation that he, too, might resign in protest of Bondi’s continued leadership.
In a post on X, Patel called the rumors “conspiracy theories” and confirmed he would stay in his role as long as Trump wanted him there.
Pam Bondi previously served as Florida’s Republican attorney general and was part of Trump’s defense team during his first impeachment trial.
She was appointed to lead the DOJ after former nominee Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) withdrew from consideration.
